This small hammer is very versitile for small/odd jobs around the gun bench. I've used mine for years without a hitch. The included punch is okay, but I'd suggest a set of quality punches in various sizes. The best feature is the various faces that it is supplied with. They make it easy to work without marring your work.

This is a nice weight ...

This is a nice weight hammer, however the steel face is very soft and will dent and mushroom at the fist use. I used this hammer to drive out a 3/32 roll pin from my M1A and after several minutes of use I switched to a standard ball peen hammer to get the job done without destroying the tool.

It's a nice hammer for ...

It's a nice hammer for folks playing at gunsmithing, but not for serious work. The screw attachment is far too narrow. The nylon head broke off (twice) after about 200 impacts; the head on the handle keeps interfering with the grip and had to be removed; the brass head is too light for anything but little pins. For com-bloc gunsmithing, or for whacking brass cases with the Lee Loaders, use either the 8oz rawhide hammer or the cook polyurethane 21oz hammer. Ideally, I would want a solid nylon 1lb hammer, but no one sells one.

Brass punch is stored in handle, it rattles terribly when hammer is used. Also, my nylon face broke on the 3rd use.

I was going to buy a new ...

I was going to buy a new one because the nylon head broke on mine but I see everyone has the same issue so I'll pass on a replacement. All negatives people point out are valid. For very light use it will be fine.

This is a nice size ...

This is a nice size hammer for knocking pins and drifts. Unfortunately, it also delivers poor reliability. The nylon face has broken off twice and the handle, which is swaged onto the head, is coming loose. The punch in the handle is a nice extra, but rattles around and drives you nuts.

The nylon head is rated ...

The nylon head is rated for light use only and breaks easily. If you want a replacement from Lyman, it cost $3.95 plus $4.00 for shipping (more than half the cost of the hammer). The steel and brass heads come loose unless you use a tool to tighten them. The punch in the handle rattles while in use which is pretty irritating. This tool is not intended for heavy and long term use. A hammer with fixed heads is a better option.

I liked this hammer fine until the nylon head broke while lightly tapping on a pistol frame. Be careful, the nylon head won`t take much use.
