Hornady has taken their Flex Tip Expanding bullet they use in their LEVERevolution and made it available in a projectile only. The patented Flex Tip bullet features an interlocking design that keeps the core of the bullet and the jacket together creating a deeper penetrating, more humane kill. Not only that, they offer controlled expansion, enhanced accuracy and the delivery of flatter trajectories. These bullets are safe to use in all tubular magazines, as well as any other firearm. This is not loaded ammunition.

I really like these ...

I really like these rounds in my Henry Big Boy 45LC, they are accurate and effective as a whitetail hunting round. They also are fun to shoot in my Ruger single action revolvers.

Loaded the bullet in new cases and used in a 16" barrel Marlin Limited rifle. Very accurate to about 190 yards sighted in at 25 yards. Shot a 4x4 muley at about 80 to 90 yards quartering under the backbone. Knocked him down immediately but on inspection the bullet came apart in about 6 inches and stopped. I will use a flat nose soft point of heavier construction next time. Lung shots would be Ok probably but limited on bone at the speeds I shoot this load, which clocks 1850 on my graph.

Good Bullets

I reload these for 45 colt and really like them. Hornadys sight says you need to trim the case shorter with these, but I shoot these from a revolver and have never had any issue with OAL due to not trimming them. I would recommend these to others if you are loading 45LC.

Hornady has done it again! As a long time reloader and hunter, I have found the FTX bullet to be far superior in accuracy and performance than most any other on the market. I routinely get sub-one inch groups at 100 yards in my Marlin 1894 Cowboy .45 LC and achieve devastating results on whitetails and hogs. Most don't make it past 20 yards and many drop at the shot. I use the FTX bullets in .460 and .500 S&W, as well, with similar accuracy and results and am looking forward to testing them in my Savage ML-10 muzzle loader. NOTE: If you plan on reloading any of the FTX's, save yourself some time, money and aggravation by investing in Hornady dies utilizing their seater stem specifically designed for this bullet. In addition, your cases must be trimmed to the lengths specified by Hornady, to eliminate feeding problems, especially in revolvers. All of these FTX bullets are GREAT products for accuracy and knock-down power, when loaded properly!

This was my second big ...

This was my second big game season here in Montana using this bullet in my Marlin 1894 45 Colt Cowboy rifle and Ruger 7.5" Blackhawk in 45 colt. My rifle graphs at 1750 fps with its 24" barrel and the revolver registers 1300 fps. Both guns drive tacks with this bullet. During the 2010 antelope season I took two antelope with the scoped rifle at 125 and 220 yds respectively. Both animals were one shot kills with complete pass through in the chest cavity. This year for antelope my Leica Geovids ranged a buck antelope at 175 yds and one shot through the chest cavity dropped him in his tracks. This bullet has performed well beyond any of my expectations in the 45 Colt cartridge and has a "smack factor" beyond its ancient pedigree.

This is a great product, but I would recommend using Hornady's seating die made for the FTX bullets, due to the fact that a standard die for a 45 cal. would crush the specially designed soft tip bullet while seating it in the cartridge case.

I loaded up some 45 long colt shells using the 225 grain LeveRevolution bullets and they performed even better than I hoped they would. I used them in my Tarus lightning rifle without any malfunctions.

I have used several hundred of these 225 gr .452 FTX bullets in my Savage ML10-2 muzzleloaders. A very good value. It would be nice if Hornady would offer their 250 and 325 gr FTX bullets in 100 count boxes.

School is still out... I am attempting to get 1" to 1 1/4" consistent groups at 100 yds out of a Model 94 Win. Hornady said it is possible. After the second box and numerous powder changes along with the charges I may be getting closer. You have to trim the brass to use in the lever action rifle. Crimping is very important.

The Hornady leveRevolution bullets 45 cal load good but you need the right bullet seat to load properly when loading for a 45 long colt you need to leave the overall length longer than the recommended to get a good crimp on the case shoots good
