The Hornady Custom Grade New Dimension Die Seater Stem is the perfect addition for the reloader utilizing specialty Hornady bullets like the popular FTX bullet or the super accurate A-Max bullet. Simply remove the standard seating stem from your Custom Grade New Dimension Seating Die and install the new stem. The die stems will only work with Hornady Custom Grade New Dimension Seating Dies, and caliber listed in description.

The stem works perfectly ...

The stem works perfectly for handloading your own leverevolution rounds. No issues. The bullet seat perfectly, with more than enough reach to properly seat and crimp simultaneously. Doesn't mar the bullet when setting seating depth.

I had some reservations ...

I had some reservations about ordering this based on the one review that had been previously posted. The new seating stem I received is considerably longer that the original, and works flawlessly. Hornady makes an interesting seating die and it takes a bit of getting used to, especially if you are used to other makers role crimp dies. If you are used to screwing the seating die way down to crimp, you'll ruin a case with this; After some experimenting, I believe this die provides the best crimp and seating I've ever had on the 45-70, and the FTX seating stem works great for all bullet types I've tried, cast and jacketed.

I give this product a five star review out of respect to Hornady for seeing a problem and acting upon it to fix it. I first gave this item a one star because it did not work as designed with a .450 Marlin die set (#546553) to load a .45 cal. FTX 325 gr. bullet (#45015). As described on an earlier post. The .450 Marlin case is trimmed to Hornadys 2.040" length. When seating the bullet the seating stems upper ridge struck the Alignment sleeve causing the case to crimp before the bullet is seated to the proper depth. There was no adjustment left. Hornady reviewed the problem and machined a new seating stem and also sent a longer seater adjustment screw. If you are looking to load this bullet you will need both the altered seating stem and a longer seating adjustment screw. The seating stem can be altered simply by milling half of the lower top flair off from the underside letting the seating stem drop a little lower into the Adjustment sleeve, you will also need a seater adjustment screw 3/8 to 1/2 inch longer or you will not have enough thread to lock it in. With the above alterations it now works like it should.
