Not what I was expecting ...

Not what I was expecting from a PC part. It did drop in and worked but the indention on the primer rims from fired cartridges were very weak. I took it out and replaced it with the factory firing pin and get much better indentions in the primer area. Love my other PC parts (scope base, bolt handle/recoil rod, auto bolt release) but this one I can live without.

My Ruger used to fail to ...

My Ruger used to fail to fire once in about every 50 rounds, once or twice per match. I am not sure if it was this new firing pin, or the extra power hammer spring (647496) that did it, since I installed them both at the same time... But now after 540-rounds I have not had a single misfire with 18 types of ammo, 30 rounds of each. I cannot say whether the titanium firing pin resulted in a faster lock time as advertised, (if so, it was not noticeable, but of course we are talking about thousandths of a second anyway) but it certainly functions flawlessly in my rifle, as it should. No longer will I stand on the firing line at a silhouette competition and hear the dull thud of the firing pin hitting the rim of the case and not discharging a round. That is well worth the cost of this firing pin and the extra power hammer spring.

I purchased this product because I was experiencing light strikes on my primers and the occasional (1/50rds) FTF as well as the occasional FTE because the bolt is meeting a bunch of resistance).After replacing the part, I noticed a) more stovepipes, b) no difference in FTFs (same depth in primer strikes), and c) an increase in the bolt being "sticky" upon cycling and initial cocking -- even after a cleaning and lubing of the aftermarket guide rod.The problem is that it appears I've gone the wrong way. By selecting a firing pin with MORE mass, I've upset the system because the hammer is still hitting the FP with the same amount of force distributed over a larger surface area (wider front part). The net result? Lighter/no noticeable change in strikes but the bolt is not moving very easily (even with an aftermarket guide rod).Solution?* The extra power hammer spring that came with my PC hammer w/ the factory FP gives me a deeper primer strike (tip: go ahead and buy a spare hammer strut & hammer strut washer so you can easily drop & replace the factory spring with the aftermarket hammer spring for experimentation in the field).* Lubricating the guide rod helped with the bolt returning to full close upon cocking.* Chamfering the bolt (radiusing the back where it hits the hammer) reduced the bolts

I am giving this five stars. It's very easy to install, takes maybe five minutes if that, but you will need a punch to get out the roll pin that holds the firing pin in place. After the install I still had two cartridges that did not fire out of 1000 which is about the same number before the install, however I will say that that my rifle was complelely dirty and needed to be cleaned, and I do have a new 10/22, not an older model.

The steel product works ...

The steel product works great. I prepared the surfaces by polishing before installation, I dont know if that made a difference. Custom rig with Shilen Brl. would not shoot cheap ammo, now will shoot anything with no misfires. Just put a steel firing pin in a second gun that has an Adams and Bennett. Same results, No misfires, very deep and large primer strike.
