Cast Performance Flat Nose Gas Check bullets are cast from virgin alloy and produced in extremely precise and consistent LBT style molds. Optimal hardness from heat-treating prevents fragmentation on even the toughest hide and bone. Cast Performance Bullets are known to not lead your bore and feature a specialized lube allowing bullets to be shot at high velocities. Load data is included with most of the bullets.

A great 357mag bullet but ...

A great 357mag bullet but the 180 or 187gr have better meplat profiles for hunting. This bullets contour seems to be ideally suited for a lever action to improve feeding reliability. The meplat is wide enough, but for deer the slightly faster velocity of the 180gr with its wider meplat is desirable. Also, the 180 and 187gr's profile puts more of the bullets weight in front of the crimp, thus outside of the case; this increase the amount of case capacity you can use and allows higher velocities for that given bullet weight.

If you're looking for a ...

If you're looking for a deep penetrating bullet- this is it! I loaded it with H110 and shot it out of a 4" GP100 into a thick section of oak, then compared it to a 310 gr-44 mag with max H110 charge out of a 7 1/2" Redhawk. The 310 gr-44 mag penetrated half an inch more than this 200 gr-357 mag, that's it! I couldn't believe it so I performed the test three more times and got the same result. This bullet is devastating and does the 357 mag proud. Should be a great wild boar round or backup protection against dangerous game.

The previous post on this bullet is right-on. I've fired the Cor-Bon .357 Magnum load with 200-gr. hard cast into wet-newsprint and clay. Such a load does penetrate to similar depths as heavy bullets in big bore cartridges (as the gentleman notes in the earlier post). I have tried this bullet in a Dan Wesson M40-V8S .357 Remington Maximum. From that revolver's 8-inch barrel, it is easy to reach 1400-f.p.s. with H4227/IMR4227. I never used this bullet on game. However, I did dispatch a round-up feral hog for a rancher friend once with the RL7 load in the .357 Maximum. Leaving the Big Dan at a mild muzzle velocity of 1300-f.p.s. (mild for the Mad Max), the bullet entered the 125 Lbs. feral boar's head between the eyes, busted through his skull, ranged down thru the neck, entered the chest cavity low, clipped the front of the heart, and existed at the sternum into the soil. It was recovered and weighed 188-grs following its considerable course through flesh and bone. The Cast Performance 200 grainer's nose (meplat) was slightly widened, though still below the initial diameter of the bullet. This is a great bullet for either the .357 Magnum or the hotter .357 Remington Maximum where the deepest penetration is needed. The general quality of all Cast Performance bullets is above the rest, in my experience.

Used these to make up the ...

Used these to make up the old police-style rounds for my .38 S&W. Supposedly hitting 714 FPS with a small charge of Herco and a 4-1/2" barrel. Can consistently hit a 12" disc off a rest at 50 yards, so it should work out well for the close-up work it was designed for.

My 13 year old son wanted ...

My 13 year old son wanted to start hunting Whitetail here in Ohio with his .357 mag. and I've read all the stories about how most of the gun writers consider this caliber too light for deer. With H110 out of his 6" Blackhawk this bullet penetrated all 4 2" thick oak skids and part way into the 5th one. I have no reservations about a shoulder shot on any deer. This bullet truly turns the .357 mag. into a viable deer gun.
