Optimal hardness from heat-treating prevents fragmentation on even the toughest hide and bone. Cast Performance Bullets are known to not lead your bore and feature a specialized lube allowing bullets to be shot at high velocities.

I use this bullet for low recoil .45-70 loads that I like to use in my 1894 Marlin Cowboy. They are easy to load and don't lead the barrel. I get good accuracy at 50-100 yards using 16 grains of Unique, a load that I found in Handloader Magazine. These bullets are great for that fun and easy shooting load that runs around 1250 fps.

I was really happy with the performance of this bullet in my Marlin 1895. The weights did run a bit on the heavy side (315 to 320, with the majority settling around 317), but I am not a bench-rest shooter. And if I was, I wouldn't be using 45-70. The fact is you will never see a difference in accuracy, shot-to-shot, with a weight range like that. Not with ANY cartridge you will load with this bullet. Anybody who says or thinks he/she can is delusional. I can not think of a cast bullet I have ever purchased that didnt run a tad heavy or light, depending on the exact alloy used. As long as they are somewhat uniform, it is a non-issue. Besides, serious shooters would buy in bulk out of one lot, and sort by exact weight and size. Better yet, they would cast and size their own, and re-melt the odd ones. As far as the sizing went, it was a very uniform .459 across the board. I would, and will, buy these bullets again.

I hope the previous poster was not using this bullet in a 45LC as he said. 45LC takes a .452 bullet, this one is .458! Don't use it for a 45 LC!
