Product Information

Hornady has taken their Flex Tip Expanding bullet they use in their LEVERevolution and made it available in a projectile only. The patented Flex Tip bullet features an interlocking design that keeps the core of the bullet and the jacket together creating a deeper penetrating, more humane kill. Not only that, they offer controlled expansion, enhanced accuracy and the delivery of flatter trajectories. These bullets are safe to use in all tubular magazines, as well as any other firearm. This is not loaded ammunition.

I am not the worlds best shot and definitely not an expert re-loader either. I use my friends re-loader and he watches me close. I do know my guns though. I loaded these for my .45 acp with ramshot true blue and shot the tightest groups I have ever shot. Definitely the best ammo I have ever shot. At 25 yards I was inside of the bottom of a coffee cup and at 50 yards inside of a dollar bill. for me that is the best shooting I have ever done and have decided to stick with these loads cause that was the best group of the three. Overall great slugs, they group about 2 to 3 inches higher than the speer 200 grain hollow point.

First these are a good bullet. They are about the cheapest plated bullet to safely shoot thru the 460 SW. They do what a ballistic tip bullet is suppose to. But I have mixed reviews. Shot a whitetail at 80yds thru the lungs performed great. Shot one at 20 yds bullet cornered from the ribs thru the front shoulder and stopped just behind the skin. For lighter game. Great bullet, but for heavier game even the whitetail deer I would definitely go with a heavier bullet. Wish these came in a 300 or 280gr variety.

BAD TOO THE BONE PREFORMANCE!!!

i had a barrel made for my encore chambered in 460 S&W. i made up some different loads and got one whole accracy. then took the gun deer hunting. the first shot was a little low and back but in the ribs. it blew the ribs off of the deer and the guts out of it. second deer was a quartering away shot, whole the size of two softballs. third deer went 20 yards. not really any tracking necessary. forth deer was bedded and it rolled it in it's bed. simply amazing. they are like a bomb going off. keep in mind LOUD. please use ear plugs while shooting this.

One of the best bullets out of my 460 s&w..Dropped my 188lb deer in its tracks did not move at all,1 shot @ 95 yds ..Did it's job and some. GREAT ammo from Hornady.

These are great for target practice very accurate and easy to load and a lot of fun to shoot with the velocities you can get, but seem a little fragile to hunt with they explode more than they hold together.

I have used these with TC Superglide Sabots in my 50 cal encore. Every group has been less than 1" at 100 yards. I am more than a little astonished. These were loaded with Blackhorn 209. Same sabot and powder with other bullets could not group in less than 3". I am currently loading this bullet for the 45 colt with shorter 45 schofield brass which produces a COL of less than 1.6". Seems like a very good choice for more than just the 460. It is the only jacketed 452 cal 200 grain bullet with a cannelure for crimping.

Loaded these up in 460 S&W for my 15 inch Encore pistol using a healthy dose of H110. On the last day of the hunt I found medium sized doe and took the shot at about 25 yds. Bullet entered just behind the last rib and never exited the animal. The bullet never touched a single bone, it just fell apart inside the deer. I'm thinking that these are a little on the fragile side and might be better suited for a 454 or 45 LC.

I've tried the 200 gr, 240 gr and 300 gr bullets out of my 10.5" Smith and Wesson .460 Hunter and the 200 gr are by far the most accurate and flattest shooting. One hole groups at 25 yds, cloverleafs at 50 yds, and MOA at 100 yds are possible with these fine bullets. As long as the penetration on deer is sufficient, these will give my 460 rifle-esque capability.

Loaded these for my XD .45acp with Unique, CCI LP primers with a COAL of 1.50". They shoot great & the action cycles just fine with the Flex Tip.
