Barnes Expanders 300 Grain Bullets

I use this produce (300 Grain Barnes Expanders) in my Savage 10ML-II. Other than this rifle having custom bedding (Carbon Fiber and Carbon Fiber Pillars embedded in the stock, this rifle is bone stock metal wise as it comes from the factory.

For the Savage 10ML (the only production rifle you can use Smokeless Powder with), I shoot between 56.1 and 61.4 grains of VIT N120 with no cleaning shot to shot and a CCI 209 Primer and OMG!!! 2,387 FPS and POI at 200 yards.... this is the load!

The bullets are very accurate to 250+ yards and I have taken Whitetail in excess of 350 yards with drop-in-the track KO power! Deer do not run when hit with this bullet. The Barnes Expander all copper (monometal) technology for Muzzleloaders has really made this sport enjoyable.

Loading is firm but not hard, (not a ram rod bender or breaker)... it loads as it should... I tried the Hornady SST 300's with the red easy load sabots and they just do NOT seal properly, like the PowerBelt design the Hornady easy load Sabots are designed for dirty-bore, or after the first shot easy of loading follow-up where the build up in the bore from BP or BP Synthetics like 777 or Pyrodex build up enough to take up the slack.

These Barnes Expanders have brought a new lever of performance to muzzleloading even in other muzzleloaders like the T/C Encore, T/C Omega or the CVA or other inlines... but for the Savage 10ML-II Muzzleloader when using smokeless high-performance double-base powders this is the way to get 375 H&H Cartridge like performance from a muzzleloader! I have taken 3 deer with these bullets in the last two days. They shoot very well out of my TC Encore Prohunter paired up with 2 50gr Triple 7 pellets. You don't have to worry about looking for copper fragments, because the bullet passes through the deer and leaves nothing behind but an awesome blood trail!

Hands down, this is the best muzzle loading bullet I have ever used. I have taken two elk, five whitetail and a buffalo with the Barnes MZ 300 gr. bullet riding atop two Triple 7 pellets. The only bullet I have been able to recover was under the skin on the far side of the buffalo (taken at 184 yards). The bullet broke both shoulder blades and two ribs before coming to a stop. It performed flawlessly, retaining 100% of its original weight.

Bought a TC Omega .50 and ...

Bought a TC Omega .50 and needed a bullet for deer and elk. Finally worked up a load with this 300gr. bullet using 110gr. 777 loose powder and got a 3/8in. group at 100 yards center/center. What accuracy!! Shot a small cow elk last November at 30yds. She didn't take another step. Oldest of Barnes MZ bullets, but still great.

I use these in a Savage 10ML-II with smokeless powder (charges found from Savageshooters.com). These bullets are excellent products and if placed properly are more than adequate for downing game.

Most accurate and deadly bullet I have used in my 27 years of muzzleloading. I have 5 shot groups under 1.25 inches at 100 yds. One shot kills on deer and elk. Great penetration and large wound channels!

I've used these bullets for several years in a T/C Encore, powered by Clearshot powder. Dozens of deer have fallen to this combination and I don't recall having to trail one more than 50 yards. The Barnes bullets have proven to be very accurate and the recovered bullets showed picture-perfect expansion. It's the best bullet I've tried so far.
