I bought this to have in my range bag when I'm out shooting, and while it does work well, the plastic is too soft. I installed a Wilson Combat full length guide rod in my Remington R1, and removing the barrel bushing with that set-up absolutely shreds this wrench, so I end up picking little blue flakes out my barrel and the gap between the barrel and bushing.

Excellent product for the money. Positive: fits Gov't, Cmdr, and Officer, won't mar the finish of your gun, CHEAP, and light and small enough to just get a couple to keep in your range bag in case you forget or can't find your primary wrench in your cleaning kit. Negative: plastic is a little soft as mentioned, but I've had no problem removing tight bushing assemblies from multiple 1911s, stock, hybrids, and match guns.

Way too soft...as others have stated, it will leave blue plastic shavings everywhere. If your bushing is tight at all, you will struggle with this weak tool to break down your 1911. I didn't successfully get my firearm broke down with this tool. I had to buy one that was stronger.

It is good but as others have said. The plastic is too soft. I get plastic shaving every time I use it but, it works every time.

I have a Para-ordnance ...

I have a Para-ordnance P14-45 LDA. This item works better than the factory supplied one. It is wider to cover the slide lip farther during removal. My weapon has a LaserMax installed with the heavy duty spring. This creates more than the normal resistance. I have no problem removing the bushing with this tool. I like the fact that the tool takes a slight bit of damage rather than the finish on my weapon. I have been so impressed that I have recommended it to my son in the local Army National Guard for his P14-45 single action. For the price I don't mind having to replace it (if I ever do).

I bought it to use on my Dan Wesson PM7 that has a VERY tight barrel bushing, it turns the barrel bushing clockwise & released the spring, however it cannot turn it counter clockwise to release the barrel. The plastic on the wrench is now dented & can't be used anymore. I still can't release the barrel.

I will just say if you are worried about ordering this bushing wrench you shouldn't be. Yes like in other reviews they say it scuffs the wrench and shaves some plastic off when you use it, and yea it does that. It's a plastic wrench and a steel gun so the steel wins, and that's what you want. Your guns finish is the important part not the wrench. The tool is well made does the job and saves unwanted scuffs and scratches on your pistol....and its less than 4 bucks, no worries. It would last for thousands of take downs I'm sure.
