Very impressive product. What I liked best was the ease that the media drains out of you cases. Even small brass like .223 and 22-250 empty very easily from the cases unlike the 'other' brand. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars was it didn't seem to last as long before needing something added or replaced. I will continue to use this product because it does work and is much cleaner than the other brands.

I purchased this product about two years ago and only used it recently: It is, without a doubt, the worst cleaning medium I have ever used. It was extraordinarily dusty and left a fine dust on rifle cases after a couple of hours of vibratory tumbling. I had to resort to my old corncob medium to clean the cases. Needless to say, this stuff ended up in the trash after its one and only use. If possible, I would have given it a minus 5.

I bought this maybe 2 ...

I bought this maybe 2 years ago when I first got into reloading. The dust is starting to get nasty, but only when dumping it into the sifter and back. I use a lid on the tumbler and maybe if I wouldnt use the lid, the dust might go away. Im thinking about letting the tumbler run lid off outside for a while to get some dust out. I gave 4 stars because when it was new my brass came out looking very decent and the results started to fade requiring longer tumbling. It was suggested to me by someone I work with that I should add some car wax liquid in. I did, it clumped up at first and I had to break it up by hand then HOWEVER I have the most beautiful brass now! It amazes me and everyone I know how terrible the range pickup brass I get from outdoors on dirt with stains and corrosion come out looking much better than any factory brass I have ever seen! Id give it 5 stars, but I had to do some work to get it there.I should also mention that I must have nearly 15k casings through this and have not replaced the first tumbler full! Just had to top off a little and add car wax. It seems to just keep getting better and better with age and it is dark grey now.I probably tumble too long, but the brass looks terrible usually and I just tumble it while Im at work and sift it when I get home. I pick up all calibers from the range that I currently shoot and ones that I may at some point in time. I tumble more brass than I shoot due to this stock piling of brass I do. I cannot believe how long this stuff has lasted me. I would have bought less If I would have known.

Pour new walnut media ...

Pour new walnut media into a CLEAN DRY bowl and let it vibrate with the lid off for a few minutes to kick out the dust. This gets messy fast so do it outside away from your house. Once the dust is separated from the good media pour it out, wipe out the bowl and pour the dust free media back in. SLOWLY trickle 2 cap fulls of polishing compound into your media so it distributes very evenly. Vibrate it for another 20 minutes before you add your brass.

This is a good product. I would rather see it as a 6-pound jug. That would allow two adequate refills of a standard brass polishing bowl.

I've been using this ...

I've been using this product for the last 6 months for cleaning .45-90 brass after shooting black powder and really like it a lot. My cases are blackened by the tough black powder residue and have my sticky BP lube on/in them, but come clean anyway. I do NOT get the quantities of dust others have complained about and it saves me a lot of time. Reading other reviews made me wonder if this product has changed lately because I get only a tiny amount of dust on the floor after 12 hours in a Lyman Turbo 1200. I deprime my cases at the range right after firing and drop them into a peanut butter jar of water with a little vinegar and 409 cleaner. When I get home I put the WET cases in the tumbler and let them run until the next morning, when they come out bright and clean, including the primer pockets AND no media stuck in the primer pockets. That last feature saves me a bit of time and hassle. My first 3-1/2 pounds of this media has lasted through over 500 cases of .45-90 cleaned so far and shows no signs of degraded performance. I've used both Lyman corncob, treated and untreated, and TufNut previously and didn't get either the performance nor longevity I do with this stuff. I used to have to pre-clean in an ultrasonic cleaner, but no more.

First use of this product ...

First use of this product from this company. Works OK but I have found that due to the small particle size it tends to generate a lot of dust while the unit is working. Have to keep the lid on or it makes quite a mess. Did not have that problem with the media I was using which had much larger pieces.

This product cleans brass ...

This product cleans brass better than almost anything, but it is coarse and just the right size to clog flash holes. If you use this, you will get clean brass, but you will have to add a step to your loading process, that of clearing the flash holes. If that is OK, then this is the stuff for you. If that frustrates you, use walnut hull media. I prefer the walnut dust to the clogged flash holes.

This product works very ...

This product works very nicely. My wife saves the used dryer/softener sheets when she does the laundry. Just puts the used ones in a Ziploc bag. I cut them down the middle and put a couple in the tumbler. The sheets help control the dust and also pick up a lot of the crud and so forth. No extra cost to me, either. This combination works well.

Junk - the media is ...

Junk - the media is basically a pile of dust. The effort to clean the media residue out of the cases is ridiculous! I've bought walnut media in the past that seemed to last forever before dust was an issue, but this junk was a dusty mess from the start. In small mouth bottleneck cases it packs in so tightly that it has to be scraped off the inner walls of the casing.

Although it's a little dusty, I add a table napkin to the tumbler to collect all the dirt and dust and separate the cases using cheap disposable gloves.Would buy again.
