The Bushnell Boresighter makes easy work of sighting in scopes after mounting. This boresighter is available with 3 arbors to cover 22 to 45 caliber guns, or as a professional set with 15 separate arbors for greater versatility. An expandable arbor is available separately to cover guns from 50 caliber up to 12 gauge.

The Bushnell Standard Bore Sighter appears to be well made and comes with a useful set of arbors for most popular calibers. However I was not able to use it with any of my rifles, because they either have fixed or difficult and very time consuming to remove muzzle brakes, and the arbors provided are far too short. After replacing one of the arbors with a wooden dowel, I discovered the second problem, the scope looked right over the top of the bore sighter! I measured the distance from the center of the bore to the center of the scope tube for all my rifles, and there is quite a variation, however all of my rifles have a longer distance than the Bushnell Standard Bore Sighter. To be useful, the distance from the centerline of the arbor and the centerline of the bore sighter needs to be adjustable.

While originally impressed by the numerous, caliber specific arbors, it became clear that the actual bore sighter was broken, and sent all the sighter shots over a foot to the right of where it claimed a target zero at 100 yards. Also, given the numerous, large objective scopes on the market today, it should include an arbor attachment to elevate the actual bore sighter into line with the scope. As delivered, the upper priced, larger objective scopes, could not be bore sighted with this item.

As was previously stated, cannot use with large objective scopes. Also bore sighter too heavy and springs on arbors too weak to keep from canting. Unable to use effectively. This is the first Midway product that I have ever had to return.

The Bushnell boresighter ...

The Bushnell boresighter is a solid, basic boresighter. It's funtional and sturdy. The 15 abors cover a wide variety of hunting calibers. It has the new .17 caliber and the 22-both hard to find. I am very pleased with it.

I bought one of these and ...

I bought one of these and used it on several rifles. I was able to use it to zero the scope. A friend brought over a borescope and while we were looking in the bores of one of these rifles we discovered damage to the muzzle crown and rifling in the bore that we have come to believe was caused by the arbor. The spring steel clamp damaged the muzzle crown and caused damage to the lands in the rifling just inside the muzzle and back in the bore where it damaged the lands when rotated to align it with the scope.The damage only appeared in rifles that I'd used the bore sighter on.I should have gotten the model with the expanding arbor. In my opinion the spuds or arbors should be brass or some other soft metal that won't damage muzzle crowns and rifling.

The Boresighter provides ...

The Boresighter provides an easy way to adjust the scope and reducing the amount of cartridges fired for final adjustment. The product meets those requirements. It is easy to use and seems to be of high quality. The only disadvantage is it lacks to capability to adjust a sight when the level of the scope is mounted higher above the barrel,as with a fixed handled AR15.
