This product broke on the ...

This product broke on the first extraction from a bolt action rifle. The rim ejected. The rest of the case was stuck in my barrel. Fortunately someone at the range had a 22 cleaning rod and we pushed it out. I've since ordered a compact cleaning rod kit, however these caps are best avoided.

We tried to use these snap caps in our shop for Safe Handling Demonstrations. They are too short to feed into magazines (even though they aren't action proving dummies) so useless for our demonstrations. Plastic seems thin and these guys are so light they bounce and fly all over the place. Not the same quality as the Tipton Red Snap Caps in 9mm, .40 S&W or .45 ACP. Had to go with another brand for the shop demonstrations.

These work fine though ...

These work fine though they must be fed one at a time, they will not cycle through a magazine. I use them mostly for doing trigger jobs on .22 or .17 caliber rimfire guns. They work better than using empty brass because they seem to cushion the blow after many strikes better than brass which can split and compress with extended use. I've never had one split yet, though I pitch them when I suspect failure is possible. Chamber damage is too costly to take a chance on a 35 cent widget.These don't work well for dry fire practice though it can be done with a little patience. Since 22 LR ammo is so cheap, I guess I don't see the point anyway unless it's difficult to get to the range. Something for 17 HMR practice would be nice though. Did you hear that Midway?

So far, these are about the best of the rimfire snap caps available - but that's not saying much. They take several firing pin hits, unlike all the others. But they are too short for many magazines, and are hard to handle with large fingers. The dark color seems to make them hard to find after ejection (they'll bounce six feet away on a concrete floor!) If they were longer, I'd give them five stars.

I wish I'd had these years ago; maybe my old .22's would have more reliable ignition. These are a great way to dry fire your .22. They do wear after repeated use but I tend to drop them and lose them before they are totally shot.

These snap caps work very well. They handle just like a real cartridge. They feed into the chamber and eject like the real thing. They have proven to be helpful while making adjustments to my 22 rifle. I'm very satisfied.
