The Frankford Arsenal Impact Bullet Puller is a simple way to remove bullets from cartridges. Perfect for disassembling improperly loaded ammunition or reclaiming brass and bullets from military surplus or other unknown ammunition. Just drop in the loaded round and sternly tap the Bullet Puller against a piece of wood to separate the bullet, powder and case.

This little tool has ended up saving me money over the past few years. Every once in a while when I am developing a new load for one of my rifles, I'll end up with a few loaded rounds that are too hott or something of that sort. At around .30 per round it paid for itself. I've read some people's complaint about the collet that comes with it being poorly made. My solution: use the shell holder out of your reloading press! Snap the case in, put them both in the handle, screw down the top and you are good to go. After each strike make sure the cap is tight and it will last you for years. Another tip is to use a nice chunk of wood to hit against. Don't drive it like a framing hammer. Just some nice solid hits and the bullets come loose. Great Product!!

I loved it - until I used it a lot. I took apart an occasional round (used less than 50 times). Then, sadly, I messed up a load of 200 or so rounds. I started taking them all apart, and the tool started to break apart. First chunks of the handle came off, then the entire head broke off.I'm ordering another one, because I think it's a good design, but I guess they have a short lifespan.

It works; I've not had to use it that much, so I can't say how long it would hold up. As others have noted, if your bullets are soft-pointed/exposed lead, you'll want to roll up a small ball of paper or something to protect the bullets nose when they come out. Sometimes it will throw powder out of the unit (especially when you've used a small ball of paper or something to protect the bullet, and powder is trapped within/around/under the paper). Overall, for infrequent use, it is fine, and relatively fast.

GREAT Tool

LOVE this tool. Unfortunately for me, i had to pull about 200 9mm rounds (due to my own silliness). I was very concerned about doing this (had never had to go through that pain), but the reviews on this product were so good that it made me feel much more confident about swinging a "hammer" around a loaded round. I similar to others, chucked the provided "gauge" and replaced with my "case holder" included in my die set for the 9mm. Worked like a dream. Got through all of them in about 45 minutes. Since then, i have used it a couple of times for much larger rounds here and there with equal success.

Works good, this is my first kinetic bullet puller and I was afraid to really wack it at first. After that learning curve it seems to take the abuse good!
After using the collets and finding out (although they work good) they were a pain to use I started using the shell holders and now it works good.

For the money this works pretty good. Crimped ammo is a challenge but, perseverance,perseverance! I have had none of the breaking issues noted in some reviews. A bit messy but results are what matters.

I have used this puller for my .45 acp and my .223 and I am very happy with this product. No problems at all and very easy to use. I would recommend this product to anyone that I know that reloads their own ammo. Worth every penny.

The plastic handle is ...

The plastic handle is uncomfortable and a foward piece of the plastic grip did break. The shaft also gradually bent on mine with use. Mine is now of no use with the bent shaft and piece broken off the grip. I believe the shaft is a hard aluminum and this may have contributed to it bending over a period of time.

You won't want to pull crimped bullets with this thing, if you have arthritis, and if you don't already have arthritis, you'll develop it! ;) Eventually a crimped bullet can be freed, but it takes many, many very hard whacks!After obtaining a 480 Ruger and surveying the ultra-expensive large caliber collet pullers, I become motivated to make this impact puller easier and less painful to use on crimped bullets. I had a piece of long 1" ID 6061 aluminum tubing laying around so I potted the handle of the Frankford tool in it with epoxy slurry--all the way up to the tool's head.My tubing has 1" ID / .060" wall and is 33" long. I think two feet of tubing would be the minimum length that I'd recommend but 33" offers a large range of grip points leverage. I mixed a slurry of 2-part aircraft fiberglass layup epoxy with crushed walnut shells. It took about 3 or 4 ounces to fill the tube to the top with the impact puller in place. To plug the other end, I rammed a rubber stopper down the tube with the handle before filling. Fill your tube with water first and measure the volume of epoxy slurry required. Let it dry inside before filling with epoxy.The improvement in usability comes from the extra "swing" velocity developed with the longer handle. It is not necessary to swing hard and, in fact, I'm sure the head could be broken with a very hard swing so use only enough effort to get the bullet moving out of the case and use many hits--same as before, but with no pain!
