A must for lefties!! No more fumbling on the wrong side of the pistol grip. It does stick out a little, but it's made to fit all ARs. Not what I'd call smooth, but more importantly it has positive engagement in both positions. If you don't have the tools and the knowledge to get the old one out, you shouldn't be playing with safeties anyway!!

Couldn't get it apart to install

I'm sure this will work okay, but I couldn't get it apart to install it. The allen head screw was on so tight, it wouldn't come apart. I tried percussive maintenance (I hit it lightly with a rubber hammer), I tried soaking it in penetrating oil, I tried heating up the part, I tried a longer allen so I would have more leverage. It wouldn't budge.

As a lefty, I like that this has the same size lever on both sides of the frame. It looks like it will function fine. If it works well for me, I will probably install them on all my AR's.

Fair for price

was skeptical at first from the bad reviews on gap......lets be honest if you are like me just order it, fit my Smith Wesson lower with slight slight gap maybe an 1/8" between receiver and saftey but was a smooth engagement. I gave 5 stars because the gap is not as huge as some claim, if yours is it can be filed down some to fit nicely but the workmanship and quality for the price was very good.

Works, but it's tight

Looks like a standard mil-spec part. Allows me to select and check condition on either side of the receiver. Finish is good.

Here's the bad: the little screw was on there TIGHT. I thought I was going to strip the head to get it out just to install it. Finally it came loose, and I lost some knuckle skin for my effort.

Install went smoothly, it's pretty simple if you know how to work an AR lower.

Why pay more?

I received the part on Monday and installed it last night after our Thanksgiving guests had left. No, it doesn't come with instructions, but the safety is the easiest lower part to replace, just remove the grip (be careful not to lose the spring and brass detent). Installed the safety, put the grip back on, tightened the ambi part, made sure everything worked, then took the ambi part back off, applied Lock-Tite (blue), and reattached. For the price I don't know how it can be beat.

I have no problem with product. It's a fit great with Mega lower.
Allen screw back out after several range outings. I have to retight it most of the time. This reason why I gave a four stars.

If sticks out evenly on both sides. The right side appears to stick out slightly since there are no small pieces of metal sticking out from lower (check your lower near the current safety selector). Two things I did not like 1) it did not come with a T8 star bit and 2) I have over sized takedown pins and changing to the safe position is not as easy as I would like. It will take practice. Overall, I am happy.

Would not fit

I installed this safety in an EA CO lower after I installed a Timney trigger and could not engage safety. I removed and compared center diameter, where it blocks trigger movement, to the Mil-spec trigger that did work. Mil-spec's diameter was ground to .246" and this DPMS diameter was as cast at .331 diameter, way to tight. I put it in a whirley jig, (I own a machine shop), surface ground it to .250" diameter and it worked perfect. DPMS safety is file hard, so too hard to turn down in lathe. This safety would be useless if I did not have access to grinding equipment, and would need to be returned. I do not understand those who say it fit right in.

Not a lick of trouble with this item

I have these on 6 of my rifles and plan on adding them to the rest of them. I haven't seen any trouble mounting them in YHM, DPMS, RRA, S&w, DTI, or PSA lowers. I have had customers put them in as well and never heard a complaint.

The right side sticking out too far can be corrected with a flat file but I do not like that there is no positive click when changing selector position.

Nothing special, just a standard ambi safety. The only complaint I have is with the set screw...it started to strip out when tightening during install.
