I used this ammo in my featherweight model 70 . When I first bought it, as at the time that was what was available. Very good accuracy under 1 inch groups at a 100 yards . Havent tried any other new factory ammo as I reload my own ..

This ammo shoots very well out of my Remington 700. I can consistently shoot 2 inch groups at 200 yards with a bipod. Very accurate for the money. Nice brass too for reloading. Downside seems to be that the bullets may break apart on game at close range. Cheap accurate target ammo though.

On a recent elk hunt, my partner shot a cow standing broadside at ca. 200 yards, striking her squarely in the shoulder. The bullet impacted the scapula approximately 1.5 inches above the junction with the humerus, and broke the scapula. The bullet completely exploded on impact, driving bits of lead all the way down into the lower leg, making it look as though she had been hit with bird shot. No part of the bullet penetrated through the shoulder and into the chest cavity. This was a very disappointing result, and it meant that the cow was able to hobble along for a while until a second shot (this one in the neck) put her down for good. I am not impressed at all with this kind of performance. Apparently, Winchester uses the same lightly constructed bullet in the 308 that they use in the much zippier 300 WSM. The result is far too much fragmentation and far too little penetration. I would not class this as a CXP 3 bullet. It is fine for whitetails, but I'd go with something more robust for heavier game.

I recently purchased a Remington 700 CDL (stainless fluted barrel) and used this round to sight the rifle in. I took 6 rounds to get the scope dialed in and then I tried a 3 shot group at 100 yards. The result was a group that measured 1.3" center to center when measured horizontally and .45" vertically. I'd also go so far as to say the left/right measurements may have been high, due in part to me not being used to the heavy/factory trigger pull of this rifle (it's the heaviest trigger of any of my rifles).I did notice that the primers where flattening pretty good and there was a crater forming around the firing pin strike...so I decided to chronograph 5 rounds and check the velocity. With the F-1 Chrony set 10 ft. from the muzzle I got an average reading of 3,007 fps (FYI, my rifle has a 24" barrel). Checking Winchester's website I see the round is listed at 2,970 fps. I was rather surprised to see the load performing a little faster than it's advertised velocity!Granted I can't speak to it's performance ON game but, it appears to be plenty accurate for a non-premium (read: HIGH dollar) box of ammo in a factory rifle.

One word..DEADLY. I have shot three deer in the past 2 years with this round and it has amazed me. I shot a 200 lb 8 pt last year quartering away at 150 yds and dropped him in his tracks. I am not changing any time soon.

I shot a deer quartering towards me at 150 yards. I shot clean through the deer's front shoulder and exited his back leg. It penetrated over 4 feet of deer and made a big hole. The round did exactly what it was supposed to do, however, I think I will use my .270 next time. Very potent round

Accurate load in my A-bolt, a tad over 1-inch groups at 100 yds. I shot a doe at close range, bullet exited and she dropped in her tracks. The following year I shot a buck at about 15 yards right behind the shoulder. He ran only about 15 yards and left a good blood trail, even though the bullet did not exit. Good bullet, but pretty heavy recoil in a light rifle.

Saw this bullet blow up ...

Saw this bullet blow up on the ribs of three different mule deer shot by friends of mine this past (06) season.I think I'd be careful with this stuff. Bullet would probably do just fine at 308 or slowed down '06 velocities, but the 300 WSM pushes it too fast. Ranges varied from 60 to over 300 yards
