IMR 8208 XBR is the latest in the versatile IMR line of fine propellants, this accurate metering, super short grained extruded rifle powder was designed expressly for match, varmint, and AR sniper cartridges. Started using this recently for 223 in my JP-15 rifle. Meters very well in the lee perfect powder measure which isn't quite perfect. Accuracy is outstanding with several different charges. Just shot a five shot group measuring .67 at 100 yards.

One of the best powders ...

One of the best powders available for getting factory velocity out of the .338 Federal (especially if you don't want to use ball powders). I was able to exceed Federals 180 gr. factory load using the same Nosler 180 gr. AccuBond and IMR 8208. The temperature stability is a big plus in hunting loads too!

I just started using this ...

I just started using this powder in a .308 semi auto. The rifle likes 168 grain bullets so I started with that and got sub MOA on the first batch using 1 grain less than the max load listed in the Hodgon manual. The rifle "felt" better with the 8208 than the Target loads I was using and accuracy at 200 yards was on par with other loads I've spent much more time with so either I got lucky or my next batch will be even better. Good powder to work with too.

I tried this powder in my ...

I tried this powder in my rifles and played a bit with the loads. It works really well in the 7.62x54R case pushing a 150grain bullet to 3000fps, and was very clean and accurate. However, in the 7.92x57 Mauser cartridge it ran out of push with the 200 grain HPBT bullets and I could not get them over 2450 FPS (I was looking to get 2550fps), which is easily done with other Extreme Powders such as Varget and H4895. They were very accurate at 100 Meters using this powder (when I did my part) and I will continue to use it in the 7.62x54R, but it was simply not the one shoe fits all that I had maybe mistakenly hoped for. Otherwise it meters well in the powder measure, trickles very controllably, and other maybe falling a bit short in pushing a heavy bullet in a medium size case, it did very well. Additionally, a friend of mine also experimented with this in his .308 Winchester and had similar results with pushing a heavier bullet when compared to the results we were getting from the Varget loads.

Excellent powder for a ...

Excellent powder for a .223 with 1/9 twist using a Sierra 69 grain match king bullet. Won the full bore match 3 weeks ago. Every shot was consistent, right on the money. Amazing.

This stuff is incredible! ...

This stuff is incredible! I have got a 40 grain Nosler going 4400fps which makes a 300yrd shot very easy to make with very little drop and groups of less than a inch at 200 yrds.

I have done work up loads ...

I have done work up loads in the following calibers with IMR-8208 XBR: .223 A.I., 6 X 45, 6mm BR, & .22-250 A.I. With each of these calibers, there is "VERY LITTLE" change in group size, as I worked up to the MAX. Load was not producing any pressure signs, but with no change in group size, there is nothing to be gained by going beyond the published data. All testing is done on our private 100 yard range, with 5 shot groups. Anything that does not group at 1/2" or less is not considered a good load. So far, trying to find the "sweet spot" with this powder has not proven successful. This powder is also very consistent with a variety of primers, which makes it a "Stand Out" powder! This powder also throws consistent charges thru my Harrell powder measure. Combined with the fact that this powder is not "charge sensitive" makes it a match made in heaven!

I have loaded this powder ...

I have loaded this powder now in 223 and 22 ppc and 6ppc, and found it to be as good or better in all aspects since the old 8208 was available for benchrest shooters. thanks to Lou and all for getting this powder made again.
