I also received one of these barrels that had the gas port drilled for a 308 and was undergassed. DPMS phone staff was pretty much worthless. I drilled out the gas port and it works 100% now also. I don't care for the so-called "fluting". Looks more like splines on an axle shaft. I'd rather they just left the barrel plain.

Bought this barrel to build a 338 upper for an existing LR-308. Build went well, but upon firing, bolt would not cycle. Tried several fixes (new gas block, gas tube, 3 different recoil springs, etc.). DPMS would not respond to emails, I was ready to chuck the whole project.. Finally found a fix on an AR-15 forum. Gas port was drilled to .072, much too small. Drilled out gas port, function is now 100%. Great accuracy as well (sub moa). Will make an excellent elk rifle( finally!). Would have been 5 stars, except for the lack of response from DPMS.

Received barrel and bolt ...

Received barrel and bolt would not close on my Go headspace gauge. Tried a second time and the gauge locked up and I could not open the bolt. Tried everything and it would not free up the bolt. Sent to DPMS hope they can fix.

Received barrel from DPMS post 30 days. Had to fix gas port to shoulder abnormality with lathe. After all that, shoots very very well.

Bought barrel and DPMS 308 bolt. Bolt would not close on headspace gauge or bullet. Called DPMS. They will accept @ factory to fix short headspace problem. Not returned yet. First experience with this problem.

Bought this for a build I'm doing and am very satisfied with the barrel, after DPMS's suggested barrel break-in I was shooting right under 1" groups with Federal Fusion ammo. Still can't believe the barrel only weighs a little over 2lbs, amazingly light! I wouldn't suggest any sustained rapid fire but with the price of 338 Fed ammo that shouldn't be an issue
