Tap the trigger pivot pin out, pull the trigger foward and the spring will slip out behind the trigger. Replace it with your choice of spring, push the trigger back and tap the pivot pin back in, your done. Its that easy anyone can do whole install in five minutes which most is getting the stock off. A little heavier than its ratings but pretty close within .3 pounds on my digital scale. For twenty bucks its the best upgrade on a browning a-bolt. It made my grouping alot better and easier to shoot. No joke you wont be dissapointed.

I installed the lighter ...

I installed the lighter of the two springs on my Browning A-Bolt Micro Hunter. Yes, the spring did lighten the trigger pull somewhat, but not to the extent claimed by Timney's advertising. 3.17 lbs. was the lightest pull obtained by a RCBS Trigger Pull gage, not the 2 lbs. claimed by Timney. So, don't expect too much from these springs.

WOW! Makes the A-Bolt what it should be

My A-Bolt is a good rifle, but a bit more expensive than some other options with as much utility. My main complaint about it after purchase was the inability to lighten the trigger pull to the weight I desired. As it is a Browning, I had a bit of trouble and wasn't very optimistic about finding a good, inexpensive way to solve that. Until I stumbled upon this spring set. It was worth taking a chance on at the price.

It arrived a day early in time to take on a camping trip for the opening of gun season. I installed it on a tailgate with a multitool and a Swiss Army Knife. It was easy and was an instant improvement.

Later that day I took a cold bore shot on 12" steel at 500 yards and smacked it. I haven't grouped it yet because I'm not good at groups, but I plan on it. Now I have the benefit of a nice, light trigger and the 60° bolt throw.

An alternative to this ...

An alternative to this product is the Wolff mini coil spring pack sold here by Midway Product #: 707222. It has a bunch of springs that will work to replace the Browning factory spring. The first spring I tried fit perfectly top, bottom, and center, and now my trigger pull is right at 1.5 lbs, perfect for hunting. The pack has 100 springs (50 different springs 2 of each) and a good deal of those will work to adjust the trigger pull on the Browning A-Bolt II, though not all are created equal in terms of strength. With the addition of suitable washers (as noted in my review of the Wolff coil spring pack), a much lighter long range target weight can be achieved safely. Word to the wise however, always test the trigger with snap caps and sharp hard raps to ensure safety!

My 1989 A bolt had a problem. I could adjust the trigger light and there was a bunch of creep. Or I could adjust it too heavy and get rid of the creep. With the 3 pound spring and the weight adjusted as light as it will go, I don't feel any creep and the weight is good. I hunt with this rifle and don't want to use the 2 pound spring.

I just installed the 3 lb. spring in the RMEF banquet 338 Win Mag A bolt I won in 2010. I do three things to all my rifles when available or needed; 1) Bed the action and barrel to make them perform better. 2) Buy a Timney product to improve the trigger and 3) Use David Tubbs final finish to fire lap the barrels. This Timney spring (choice of 2 weights), which was simple, quick to install and check out before reassembly, definitely reduced the trigger pull and even made the small amount of creep in the trigger disappear, completely. Solid product and will improve your A Bolt for a small investment. The A Bolt was already bedded in a synthetic stock, so I only performed the other two fixes using Midway as the source for the products. Best money I could spend to make the special rifle perform even better. I can't wait till Elk season.

I'm disappointed in the accuracy of the stated performance for these springs. I purchased the set to use the 3 lb. spring in a hunting rifle. It reduced the pull weight from a little over 4 lbs. to around 2 lbs. I would have preferred it to be somewhere between 2 1/2 - 3 lbs. of pull. I had to adjust the trigger as heavy as possible to get 2 lbs. out of the spring. Hopefully, I can become comfortable using it in the field.

Love it, let my buddy know I was ordering a set for my A bolt and he asked me to get him two sets. All smiles here! The 2lb was WAY to light, look at it wrong and it went off. 3lb is still a bit light but gets the job done. Maybe I'm just used to heavy trigger pulls but that's what I have to say.

Great kit that is very easy to install and lightens the pull. The A-Bolt has a good trigger out of the box. The problem for me is that I also have a Weatherby and Sako that have better trigger yet. I beveled the sides of the shoe it's self first to see it that would take care of it. It helped but I still wanted improvement. I installed the two pound spring and have it set in the heavy setting. My Lyman digital shows it breaks at just over 2-1/4 lbs. My buddy will more than likely add this kit to his Two A-bolts.

Wow, night and day difference. I put the 2 lb in my 300 WSM and the 3 lb in my wife's .308 only took ten minutes to do both of them, all you need is a flat head screw driver.

This was money well spent. I put the 2-lb. spring in my rifle and put the 3-lb spring in my father's rifle. Easy to install. Takes no special skill. It lowered the pull on both rifles to my liking and to my dad's. I have always liked a light trigger pull on my rifles and didn't know it could be done this simply on an a-bolt without having a gunsmith do it. If you love your a-bolt but hate the factory trigger pull, buy one of these and you'll be happy.
