The Lee Loader is inexpensive and worth owning.Even though I have a set of Lee 7.62x54R dies, I purchased my Lee Loader in the same caliber so that I could experiment with modified Neck-only resizing to help extend the number of reloads I get out of my reloadable brass.There is a website by a .303 British enthusiast that describes the modified neck resizing approach. You use your press to deprime with a universal depriming die, but not resize. You resize the neck with a hammer and the steel tube in this kit. Then you prime on your press or with a hand primer. Then you use your press for bullet seating. Since the 7.62x54R is a bolt action, crimping is optional and can be done on the press.Since most of the surplus Russian rifles have generous throats resizing the ammo is not too critical. As I said above, crimping is also optional (as long as you use the proper sized bullet, which is a key they don't really talk much about!)Given these factors one could do complete reloading for a Russian MN for quite a while with just this kit and a powder measure. One really does need to have a powder measure or else you are forced to use the dipper which from what I saw based on the loads suggested, are way below typical reloading manual values.If you want to start reloading on a shoe string or try neck sizing on the cheap it is a good purchase.

I've owned several of ...

I've owned several of these loader's but this one did not fill my need. Order the first one from midway and as soon it arrived had some ppu cases for trial. Did not size neck to 308 bullets, and will fall right in! So I tried some 303 bullet from Speer 311, was able to finger push bullet to place then crimp by flipping tool but will not hold "simply light pressure would slide bullet in. Then I said hell lets try some Hornady 312 size bullet "note" if it wasnt for the cannelure bullet would push right in with enough hand pressure. Order second from midway thinking I have received an over reamed tool. Well same type of mess, return straight to midway but second would be calling Lee!

It works. I have a press and dies, I use this for when I am fire forming brass at the range. It fits in my range bag, and I used a scale, and a cut down case to be able to use IMR 4320.

The lee classic loader is ...

The lee classic loader is great. It is built well,easy to use, and has good instructions. This is a great tool for someone who doesn't want a large reloading outfit, or who is not going to reload large numbers of rounds. This was bought as a gift and im sure it will be used alot.

I love these kits! I have them in .270, .308 and 7.62x54R. All of them function perfectly. The kit in 7.62x54R fits .312 flat base bullets no problem as long as you chamfer the inside of the case neck.

It's a good product to ...

It's a good product to have if you can't bring, or afford, a regular press. I've had the primer go off once when seating it, but it's no big deal. Just clean up the priming residue, and keep on going. The only thing I don't like, although it makes it safer so you don't overdo the charge weight, is that you are limited in the range of powders and weights that you can use with it since it's by volume, not mass. Some powders can't be reduced much and thus can't be used with this (and aren't included in the supplied data). And even if you can use a powder you like, 3/4 the powder of a regular round is a bit on the weak side, even for this caliber. But it still works. Add a bullet mold and some lead, and you can keep shooting almost anywhere.

very easy, simple, and ...

very easy, simple, and straightforward... presses make me feel like Im on a production line, this is more fun since I get to use a hammer... the neck sizing only is more accurate, improves case life. flip the sizing die upside down and itll put a nice crimp on the case after seating the bullet. the supplied scoop was way too small for the powder I was using, but I also purchased lees graduated scoop set and it works consistently.

This is a set of dies ...

This is a set of dies built to last. The mobility is great for deer camp, or the range, where you can work up loads by the shot/group. The neck size only explains why these dies have actually allowed some shooters to win competitions in the past.These are actually not any slower to use than single stage either. Great item if you dont have space for a complete set up. Fun set of dies that allows entry level into reloading!
