The Apex Tactical Forward Set Sear and Trigger kit was designed to mimic a 1911 trigger. This kit moves the trigger breakpoint of a standard Smith & Wesson M&P forward and reduces the uptake and overtravel. Installation of the complete kit will yield a trigger pull of 4-5 lbs. Machined of aircraft grade aluminum and black hard anodized, this parts kit will stand up to years of hard use and show little wear.

I ordered this along with a set of competition springs and it turned my M&P PRO 40 into a quick shooting machine. This is the best trigger you can get for an M&P. It is pricey but if you want the best you are getting what you pay for. The take up is loose like a 1911 then it gets crisp, but the break is not real crisp like a good 1911 trigger. This setup is almost like a roll instead a break. But given the limits of using the factory trigger bar and a striker fire system, this is as good as it gets for the M&P. The competition springs lighten up the whole system for a super short and very light pull with a short reset. If you love your M&P you will give it this upgrade. PS using the competition springs will make your trigger too light for carry or duty but great for target shooting.

I kept looking at this product for months and finally decided to buy. It does exactly what it claims, makes the trigger pull very short compared to stock. I do agree with the recommendations on the Apex website to only use this on a target/competition handgun. Installation isn't too hard when following the videos on YouTube. I managed to get it installed in about an hour being very careful. Bottom line is it's a great product that will seriously improve the so-so trigger on the M&Ps. The aluminum trigger also looks much nicer than the stock plastic one.

This trigger is better ...

This trigger is better than my friends newer SA 1911 that cost around $900. I had a Glock 23 with factory 3.5lb trigger which was nice, but this Apex FSS is so much better. I have constant wrist and hand pain and this trigger system really helps with those and my neck. I take 4-6 hours to "get ready" for the day, so it is very noticable for me having a lighter trigger. I would highly recommend this to anyone. I used 1500 and 2000 grit sandpaper on some internal parts. I set it up for the 3 lb. trigger, if I had the money I'd also get the Apex Competition kit which would allow me to take a couple parts out and make it a 2 lb. trigger system. Since it's a M&P9L I won't be carrying it anyways. However I would put the FSS & Trigger on a M&P9C and set it to 4.0 to 5.5 lbs. as a CCW. You should practice more than usual though, especially if you don't have the manual safety model. I have had this product for 10 months now with over 500 rounds through it and it's been absolutely flawless. The install was easy too with the videos I found online. This is the best product I've ever put on any gun in my life. This is right up there with the Maglula Uplula magazine speed loader accesory, this just rocks.

I have this installed in an M&P9L in addition to the Apex RAM, and it is fantastic! Take-up is about 1/16 of an inch (1.6mm) with a predictable, carrot-like break (versus a candycane-like break). Take-up after reset is negligible, leading to quick follow-up shots and consistent trigger pulls. I was able to shoot this side-by-side with a stock M&P9 full-size, and the difference was nothing short of dramatic. Group sizes were much smaller versus stock and I can't even calculate the increase in fun factor. After feeling this trigger, the grittiness and ambiguity of the stock M&P trigger is cringe worthy. I was originally extremely hesitant to invest this much into a trigger, but 500 rounds later I am already convinced that it is worth every penny. Couldn't recommend it more.

Another great product from Apex. Put it in my 40 & can't believe the difference. Just over 4 lbs, nice short pull & super smooth with a great reset. Just need to make sure your sear has the large spring cup.
