Includes 3 wood bushings, one 1" and one 3/4" predrilled block and one solid block for custom drilling. Replacement bushings available, sold separately. Does not include bolts for mounting to bench.

The vise is well-made, heavy duty, and works very well - the vise is much larger than the picture would lead you to believe. I did have to fabricate my own metal bushing to prevent the barrel from turning. But that was easily accomplished by use of a short section of 3/4" copper tubing (approx width of the wood block), a hacksaw and motto tool. After cutting the tubing into two roughly equal halves, and smoothing the burrs, it worked like a champ, first time I put it to the test.

The vise itself is a very heavy duty and well-made. The wood bushings are next to useless. Even with resin applied to the gripping surfaces and the vise clamped into a 5-ton press there is not enough grip to remove barrels from the tighter military surplus mauser actions. This vise works well with custom made steel or aluminum bushings. If you buy this vise be prepared to make your own bushings if you plan to remove barrels from tightly torqued military surplus rifles. The wood bushings just don't deliver.

The vise itsellf is a ...

The vise itsellf is a solid well made unit. The wooden bushings are worthless. Despite using rosen, carpet tape and a few other things I couldn't remove a barrel with it. I purchased some aluminum bushings from another manufacturer and now it's functional.

Three words: ROSIN ROSIN ...

Three words: ROSIN ROSIN ROSIN. Thought I would never get the barrel nut off my Savage. Clamped it down tight with plenty of rosin in the groove. Hit it the barrel nut wrench with a hammer 3 or 4 times and came right off.

I was skeptical at first ...

I was skeptical at first that this vise could clamp down hard enough to keep the barrel from turning. After applying a liberal amount of rosin to the supplied oak blocks the VZ-24 receiver broke free from the barrel with only the full weight of my body bearing down on the wrench. I then was able to unscrew the receiver by hand. The oak vise blocks were somewhat crushed from the amount of torque that I applied to clamp the barrel, but it looks like they are still useable. I would recommend this vise as affordable tool for removing stubborn Mauser barrels.

Haven't used it yet, but ...

Haven't used it yet, but feel I need to clarify the size of this thing. It is 1" thick stock, the base 12" long, and 2-3 inches wide. A good 10 lbs. I am going to have to find a different place to bolt it down. The anvil stand is not big enough.

Vise seems good but the wood blocks are junk. You'll get more from the wood blocks in the fireplace than in the vise.

The product worked ...

The product worked perfectly. The only item that you will need, which is not sold with the vise, is powdered rosin. The wood blocks WILL NOT hold the barrel secure without the use of powdered rosin.YOU MUST BUY POWDERED ROSIN FOR THIS BARREL VISE TO WORK AS ADVERTISED.I used the vise to remove the barrel from a '43 Turkish Mauser (M38) and it didn't slip a bit. Sprinkled some powdered rosin on both halves of the wood block, tightened the barrel vise, and it held TIGHT. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this product to anyone else.BTW- You will need a LARGE wrench to tighten the nuts on the vise...

Very well built, does ...

Very well built, does exactly what it's supposed to do. I didn't bother getting an action wrench, just this and the barrel nut wrench for my Savage. I used an old rubber glove between the barrel and the wooden block, and the block hasn't worn out after two re-barrels (but I'm sure it will soon). Make sure you have a good, big wrench to tighten the nuts and a solid bench to mount the whole assembly to. Getting the barrel off took some pounding.

This thing is even more ...

This thing is even more massive than the pictures show. First time I've ever taken a barrel off an action and with all the horror stories I read, I was expecting the worst. I bored out the uncut block to 1-1/8" to fit the Mauser barrel right at the action, sprinkled on some rosin and it came right off. Didn't even mark up the block. I highly recommend this.

Extremely strong vise. ...

Extremely strong vise. The wood block part is a little annoying, but is more easily useable by folks without access to a milling machine to make exact size aluminum bushings. They work well enough. I used my scroll saw and cut one to fit my Mauser in about 10 min. I approve.
