I was looking for a light, nice looking pad for an older Marlin Camp Carbine. The factory pad is just a thin red one, and this black pad with white line is just a bit thicker and much better quality. I didn't want to mess with the length of pull too much, this adds about an eighth I think, but if you need that go with a thicker pad from the same manufacturer. It was easy to grind down and finish. Only mistake I made was in not lubing the screw entry holes with Armor All (as the instructions clearly state) the second time I put the screws in (I had removed the pad for more fitting), which damaged some of the rubber around the holes. Easy to fix with some black RTV sealer, but would not have happened if 1) I had a jig like the one B-square makes for pad grinding, or 2) just lubed the holes a second time. Bottom line this is an excellent pad at a great price, and is just as advertised. Shipping from Midway was typically super-fast and no hassle.
