These spacers have two blades each. One blade does not have teeth, instead it is sharp and smooth and follows a fine guide line. The other blade has teeth and cuts the new row as the checkering progresses. The left hand spacer allows you to move right to left. The sharp narrow guide blade produces very straight rows and very precise checkering as a result.
