I use these patches to clean my AR barrels. I am using the Accupro Pro Jag (pierce style, with o-ring) on top of a Dewey rod through a Sinclair's Delrin bore guide. It actually gives a near perfect fit in a .223 AR bore. I use these with very little problems in 'tactical' chrome-lined to match grade competition barrels (service rifle high-power). If I do have a problem getting the patch down the bore, it's because the bore is very fouled. The initial wet patch will be very tight. But after that and a few brush strokes, the patches glide through (yet still with a tight fit). But these with confidence for your AR's.

I'm a fan of these ...

I'm a fan of these patches and use them routinely in larger caliber handguns and rifles, and shotguns. I'm not a fan of this particular sizing because (as others have noted) these patches are quite a bit thicker than others. Generally, I have to downsize the jag or patch puller just to get them through the barrel. For larger caliber firearms, this isn't a problem, but if you have a smaller caliber firearm without much room to downsize, these patches might not work well for you.

These are by far the best patch money can buy !! The cheap cotton patches leave lint behind and the jag will push right through them. The Butch's patches hold up very well and clean very well !! You will not push your Jag through these patches.

It is true, they are a little on the tight side due to thickness. However, I've used these with all types of .22 cal rifles and pistols. I find that they insert the easiest if you're able to insert them in the breech. But they're not so bad that they won't fit in the muzzle either. The people who said they "trim down" the patch don't seem to understand the physics of why they can't insert it in the barrel. The "pinch point" on the jag and patch is right at the very tip. Most jags will taper down a bit from the tip, making room for the extra patch material. I've been using the Dewey nylon rods with the included .22 cal jag with these patches and havent had a problem. If I have to insert it at the muzzle, I hold the muzzle and jag w/patch in one hand (effectively supporting the rod with this hand) and I tap the handle of the rod with the other hand. Two or three good taps and its in. Oh... and they clean very well too. I use fewer of them vs. the synthetics and others that fit easier.

I had been using the Hoppe's patches and switched to these. Night and day difference the fit is a little tight on the .223 but cleaning is unmatched, as well as the feed back you get through the barrel you can feel the difference from your first to last patch. I will be ordering more of these for sure.

These patches are too thick to use in a .223 match barrel. However, I've been using them in a .30, and I like them better than other cotton patches I've used. They hold plenty of solvent and hold up extremely well.

Very good patches, way better than the cotton ones. For those that have a tight fit: they are thicker than others, use the next size smaller jag, I use the .25 caliber jag in my .264 and they work fine! For the .223 people, use the .20 or .17 jags.
