When I got mine it seemed to be a little high. I contacted the manufacturer and they told me it does not fit M&P-15OR or any gas block rail that is the same height as the upper. I should have gotten the shorter sight. I like the style of it; it's easier to align with the rear sight. The locking mechanism is unnerving; just don't continually force it down while it's locked. I find it aesthetically pleasing and of good quality, but I'm sure there are harsher critics out there.

Very nice, this is a must ...

Very nice, this is a must if you want a sight that folds to the front. I think that it does not matter (the sight, any sight (?) can simply be turned around) however if you use a low plane gas block with MOE hand gaurds it must fold forward..Very sturdy, good machining. It flips up manually (no springs!) and locks. With a push of the release button, it folds back down. The "HK" style looks good.. Quality product, just ordered another for the new build in progress.

Please let me also add.. put this on a koebel gas block. Had no issues with point of inpact. Was almost zeroed at 50 yds right out of the box, minimal adjustments.. Used with MI rear folder, Product #: 946973. Turned out to be a perfect match.

Sight is good but not ...

Sight is good but not great. Very useable. However, a couple things I'm not impressed with. One, with Magpul MOE hand guard the sight won't flip down to the rear because it won't clear the hand guard. Second the tolerences between the sight base and the flip-up part could be a little tighter. The fastener that tightens the sight base to the picantinny I think should be an allen and not for a standard flathead screwdriver. But nevertheless I like the round sight hood and it lined up well with my rear sight as far as elevation adjustments go. Being aluminum it's light and adds no appreciable weight to the front of the rifle.

Clean movement coming ...

Clean movement coming from inactive to active and back. Odd look with the sight folding to the front, but it's nice to set my AR next to others and have a slightly different look.

Solid, durable, and ...

Solid, durable, and positive lock make this a great front sight! HK style front hood compliments rear peep sights perfectly. Flush mount screw securely holds the base and the ball style locking detent is very smooth and deploys with ease. Just another great product from Midwest Industries. I would definitely purchase this item again.

I really like the back ...

I really like the back ups and also went with these while considering the YHM models. As previously mentioned, the Koelbl gas block rail is not compatible with this front sight. When installed the sight leans to the left. I emailed the manufacturer on Sunday morning and got a reply 30 min later, great customer service. I told them which gas block I had and gave them my shipping address and they said they would ship another unit to me. A previous post talks about custom fitting the piece, but, after looking at it, I don't know what it would take to make it work. I'm going to wait and see what shows up and go from there. If I have to buy a different gas block, so be it. All in all good quality and functionality.

I put this sight on a ...

I put this sight on a DPMS heavy barrel upper in 223 for an "iron sights only" match. It was solid and good quality construction (I have run into some real junk in the past). Dialing in my MOA was a piece of cake. After a few sight-in shots, it was hitting pretty and held just over 1 MOA (about as good as I can do without optics). After a few folds up and down, it still was right on zero. I may buy a couple more of these, for my other rifles because I like folding it out of the way and knowing that I won't have to go to the range to be on target next time I flip it up.This is a good value for the $$$. Don't buy crummy sights; you'll just end up buying a good set the second time around.

Awesome product, have a ...

Awesome product, have a rear flip up from MI as well. Both great products, solidly constructed and dead on aim with very few adjustments. Make sure you get the gas block one if your mounting it lower than a quad rail. The color is about as good as you can match anodized aluminum to plastic (MagPul, TAPCO, etc). And as always Midway USA rocks!

This sight is very solid. ...

This sight is very solid. Great locking and easy sight acquisition. But please pay attention and make sure you get the right height sight. There is gas block height (mounting point lower than top of upper receiver) and handguard height ( mounting point is same plane as top of upper receiver, such as the quad rail). This is why some people say their sight appears to sit to high (in this case they are incorrectly using gas black height when they should have handguard height)
