The MI/ US Palm AK-47 railed handguard is designed to fit most milled and stamped variants of the of the AK family. The handguard attaches around the barrel to provide a solid mounting platform. The upper portion of the handguard is attached to the lower handguard, instead of the gas tube to provide a solid platform to mount optics. The Handguard is constructed with 6061 hardcoat anodized aluminum, mil-spec 1913 rails with T-marks. Installs with provided tools. Lifetime warranty, made in the USA.

I have mixed feelings about this. I mean, five stars all the way. It fits tight, it looks good, it's light weight. However, the rails are a bit wider than standard 1913 Picatinny, so anything that has a fixed width (ex: Knights Armament Pistol Grips) won't easily slide on, and must be forced on with a hammer or something heavy. If one side of the attaching object screws tight, they attach fine, it's just the solid pieces that give trouble. That's the only thing I don't like about it. Like the other reviewer said, LocTite the heck out of it, or the screws will come loose during shooting (learned the hard way).

I was really looking forward to getting this product, but that excitement crumbled away as I tried to get it to fit my Saiga Arsenal AK-103. It did not want to fit well where the handguard mates with the receiver. It wants to rise to high and not stay parallel with the barrel. It still works and all, but it does not fit like it should. Just think of that if you want to buy this thing. Otherwise it does what it should after you spend too much time trying to get it lock-tighted, positioned correctly, and leveled. Whew! I'm not looking forward to doing that again anytime soon. I would give it 3.5 stars if the option were available.

Exactly what I expected ...

Exactly what I expected in this rail, it's so lightweight when I received my package I thought it wasnt there. The only trouble I had was re-installing my cleaning rod. It didn't want to go in, but with a little tweeking it fit just fine. Don't go cheap to start out you'll just end up spending more money later, buy this product.

Easy to install. The product is lightweight and fits securely to the barrel. The finish on the product and screws seems to be thin although it could just be the type of finish applied. Review is written after installation.

Great product. I got this ...

Great product. I got this in OD green. It looks great and fits well to my Romanian AK. The lower half was easy to install, the upper was a bit difficult just because removing the wood was an absolute pain. Other then that, a great product and I recommend it!

I installed one of these ...

I installed one of these on my Century Arms WASR 10/63. Easy to follow instructions. The fit is good and the rail system is made better than any of the factory made AKs I've ever seen. I do recommend you use the thread locker that is included for attachment to the barrel. I mounted an Aimpoint CompM3 in a LaRue QD system and a stubby fore grip (just short enough to allow easy mag insertion). There haven't been any problems at all, so there's not much to say there. There are only two things I think everyone should be aware of before buying. First, the rifle's factory forend holder is attached around the barrel and will be a bit loose fitting since it no longer holds an actual forend. You could cut this off, but then you'd never be able to return the rifle to a standard forend. My solution; leave it, most AKs fit together poorly and a loose forend holder isn't going to matter. Second, after installation, there will be an open space in the bottom front of the receiver to each side of the bottom rail. This is due to not having the forearm fill up the receiver space, but that would be nearly impossible to do for an almost universal fit AK part such as this. Again though, it's not a problem in my opinion, as most AKs already have gaps in them big enough to drop a brick through anyway. Overall, I'd buy the product again as it is very well made and does what it is supposed to.

Handguard went on my ...

Handguard went on my Draco in about 2 minutes. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because there is a little gap front and back between handguard and the rest of the AK. Doesn't look too though. Fits very tight otherwise.

I installed these today ...

I installed these today on my two MAK-90s. I replaced Tapco hand guards that I had installed earlier, but was not happy with. These are Great! Installation was a breeze-no fitting required-my Dremel never left the case. I had both installed in just over 30 minutes. Allen wrenches and thread locker was included-very nice! Once installed they are rock solid and look great. Also, no more worrying about melted plastic.

If you're serious about ...

If you're serious about shooting your AK, this is the forend you must have. Solid, rails are in spec., finish is clean and tough, holds zero with a variety of optics. Mounting is easy but take your time with the alignment. Use locktight on all screws and folow the provided directions. Removal of the existing wood or plastic from the gas tube is difficult. The cost of a new gas tube is worth your time and effort.
