Product Information

The Lee Loadmaster Progressive Press reloads both rifle and handgun cartridges with ease and enough clearance for even the largest magnum rifle cases. It can be used as an automatic indexing progressive press or as a single stage press, and its five stations accept most popular reloading dies. Dies are held by a detachable turret that allows them to be removed and reinserted without adjusting.

Bought my 4-hole turret a while back and it works great, BUT 4 strokes for every round? I don't think so. Not for the amount of .45's I tend to shoot. It's great for those loads I shoot less of. Anyway, got my LOADMASTER last week and set it up. Instructions are a little weak, but if you study the pictures also, it's pretty easy. Loads fast and smooth. VERY FEW primer problems and those I've had have been my fault. Collator keeps the 4 case tubes full. Auto bullet feeder works flawlessly. It's really WIERD not feeding cases and bullets manually. Thanks LEE. I couldn't be happier. Loadin' and Shootin' - That's what it's all about.

The thought of a full ...

The thought of a full progressive press was very enticing. I use many Lee products, including their Pro 1000 progressive press, their Turret press, carbide dies in all my pistol calibers, case feeder, and even the original Lee Loader. I would rate all of them very good to excellent with the exception of the Loadmaster. My experience with the Loadmaster was extremely frustrating. Primers wouldn't feed properly, many came in sideways. The rotation was very jerky, often throwing powder out of the cases before I could insert the bullet. Set up was difficult and time-consuming. I finally returned it to the dealer out of frustration. I WOULD NOT recommend this press to any one.

Can't beat it for the price. Expect to adjust Indexer ram and everything else when you first get it. Its made by people so it will not be perfect. Just like everything else. It is nice to dial it in by hand. I now reload 5.56 .50ae .45acp now no problem easy to set up just takes time to dial it in. Once your done just keep it clean and lubed and it will last forever. If something breaks call lee they will fix it or send part. That easy! 5stars!!!

large primer feeder issue fixed

I have found the biggest problem with the large primer feeder is it crushing or not seating primers at all. At first I took a sharp knife and cleaned up the thing. That helped but I found out it is the arm on the feeder itself, 100 primers later. The issue is the arm that places a primer in to battery was being hung up on the paw that holds the case in place. When it over came that tension it flipped, put on its side, or ejected the primer. I was in the process of adding a spacer above the O ring on the swing arm when I noticed that arm on my replacement small pistol primer feeder had a taller profile. After putting the taller swing arm on, in place or the original black one, the arm clears the paw and I have not had a single primer issue with the last 100 large primer .45 APC cases I just loaded. If you do not have a replacement, alter your original by adding a spacer above the O ring and lossen the retaining screw so that is moves freely.

As a reloading instructor, I use this press for my own loading of pistol and 5.56 calibers. yes, it does require some setup, and it does require it to be kept clean. When I have student's / clients who have problems with this press. The problem is almost always the same. They set it up wrong, or they didn't keep it clean. 9/10 times, it's a user problem, not a press problem. Which is obvious since it always works once I set it up for them. The one problem I encounter most is powder spills in the priming mechanism. This will cause priming issues. The second issue is a weak / shaky reloading bench. Which can cause the primer to slide and feed sideways. Properly set up, on a sturdy bench, and kept clean, this press will load quality ammo in high volumes without any problem. I load at least 500 rounds a week. And I have less problems with the lee than I've had with Dillons and Hornady presses. Once it's set up right, this press is one of, if not the best on the market.

When I first got this press it was a primer crusher..... I tried everything I could find to do to fix it. I called Lee, and explained the problem and they sent me new parts, no questions asked. Problem fixed! Ive only loaded a couple hundred rounds so far, but things seem to be going pretty smooth. Tons faster than the single stage I had been using. I would not recommend this or any progressive press if it will be your first time ever reloading tho. If you buy this press be sure and watch the videos online for setting up. The instructions that come in the box are not worth reeding in my opinion. I have a Lee pro 1000 that I havent taken out of the box yet. It will be interesting to see how it compares to the Loadmaster.

I have a lot of Lee stuff and I think most of it is great. However, the Loadmaster press is not in that category. My wife gave me a Loadmaster in 45 ACP for a wedding present about 9 years ago. Contrary to advertisement, it did not work right out of the box. I sorta got it to work but the case slider broke instantly and it trashed a bunch of those primer slider things. I started feeding cases manually and it worked for a while before something else broke. Have not used it in years - what a waste! Went back to my reliable Lyman turret press. It is surprising that Lee would put out such a poor product.

First the destructions ...

First the destructions are bad. 2nd the press came jammed had to tear it down. found the timing and indexer to be the problem DO SAND THE INDEXER ROD 4 sides and corners smooth it out. put a little oil on it to. if you damaged the plasic fliper replace it you get a extra 1 with your press set timing up and it will index smoothly. for the primer well I prime by hand most of my brass is range brass so I deprime and reprime off the press. this press works real smooth now no problems

Don't waste your money ...

Don't waste your money and go for the hornady lock and load ap. Lee load master indexes and promer system is awful. I got it to work 60% of the time the other 40 was a big head ache. I returned it and have had only success with Hornady. I can press as fast as I can shoot.

I bought this press with the intention of upgrading once I honed my Progressive Press skills. It's a different animal that the standard single stage presses that I was used to using for the past 20 years. The funny thing is that I am completely satisfied with this press, and no longer wish to pay more for a more expensive product. The Loadmaster covers every caliber that I need, and can be switched out within a few minutes to load any cartridge you choose. The complaints that I have read on the Loadmaster have been due to user error, and the inability for some people to follow directions. The press comes set up from the factory, but some minor tweaking will be required to get it running smoothly. Take your time to learn your press! Too many people wish to have an 'automatic' press anymore where they don't even have to think when pulling the handle. That isn't a safe situation. Learn this press, and it will give you years, if not a lifetime, of enjoyment. I have loaded close to 15k rounds of 9mm, 45 ACP, and 5.56 with mine, and it just keeps on trucking.

I have used my two load masters to load 20000 rounds of 9mm and 10000 rounds of 45acp in less than a year with no problems but minor adjustments , any reloader you buy you will have problem if you dont know what you are doing, if you have a problem all you have do is call Lee and they will walk you thru it. I highly recommend lee loadmaster press , take your time and learn and read the instructions and learn how your press works , I will soon buy my third loadmaster , happy reloading

I have had my Loadmaster for a little over a year now, and have made good use of it. I have had a rough road to making it reliable though, first off, I had to modify the indexing mechanism so that the linkage would kick out and over, second the primer system is useless, I found it much faster and more reliable to just prime the cases by hand, and lastly, the case feeder doesn't work very well and is a pain to setup and frequently malfunctions. Overall, I would spend a little more money and buy a better progressive press or by a turret press.
