I bought this spring to ...

I bought this spring to install on my Milspec. It looks like a nice quality product. However, it's 3/8" longer than the OE part. I was able to force it down into the housing but after reassemby, the trigger pull was a lot heavier and the hammer was hard to cock back. I decided to go back to the OE spring. I may cut it down to same length as the OE spring and see if that works. But as it came I can't use it on my Mispec.

After watching a Wilson ...

After watching a Wilson Combat DVD about customizing a 1911 (oh oh, a little knowledge is dangerous!), I decided to install this mainspring in my Para Stainless LTC; it is my wife's favorite (centerfire) gun in the safe, so I thought I would try to improve it even more for her. Upon receiving this spring, I was surprised to discover that it is a lot longer than the original mainspring, even though this one is "reduced" power. Regardless, it still installed easily (drop-in). I am not overly impressed with the results, though. I do not own a trigger gauge, but my subjective opinion is that it did not reduce the trigger pull poundage much at all. A little disappointing, considering I installed this for my wife's benefit. What HAS changed, however, is the "feel" when the trigger breaks. It is not the metaphorical "glass rod breaking" at all; it is more like... well... it is almost like there is no feel at all! Granted, I also stoned the sear/hammer, and ever-so-lightly polished the trigger stirrup, so yes I would expect the pull to be nominally smoother, but this is way beyond expectation. Anyway, the mainspring is very well made, exactly what you would expect from Wilson Combat. It dropped right in, and knock on wood, no failures to go boom with the lighter spring. Next step is putting on some slim grips for the wife.
