Holy smokes! This barrel ...

Holy smokes! This barrel rocks! Easy drop in installation, I would advise a good cleaning after installation, (small metal flakes were still in the bore).It shrank my groups down quite a bit while using bulk ammo. But when I used match grade ammo 10 rapid fire shots fit under a quarter! When actually aiming for 5 shot groups still at 50 yards they were under 1/3rd of a inch. This was with stock trigger parts. It may not be good enough for some people but I am sold on this barrel!

Buyer Beware!!! I bought this thinking good price + good reviews = easy decision. As soon as I got it, I mounted it and everything looked great. Took it to the range and fired it 1 time. FTE. Had to pull the spent case by hand. Got it home and checked the chamfer on the extractor slide - it was over an 1/8th of an inch away from the chamber. Extractor didnt even come close to the spent case. Be sure to look this over really really well before even mounting it!!!!

This is an update on my review from about a year ago. The accuracy with this barrel just keeps getting better and better. I have found some brands of .22 ammo that won't extract or eject with this barrel. This is fairly common for 10-22 barrels with "match" chambers so you need to keep this in mind when you build your 10-22. You can have a sloppy chamber that will eject all manner of spent cases, and live with so-so accuracy, or you can have a nice properly sized chamber that greatly aids in accuracy. If you are looking for extreme accuracy then go with the match chamber and find the ammo that works. With Wolf Match Target and Match Extra, all of the Eleys that I've tried and CCI Green Tag I've had perfect feeding, extraction and ejection with my Green Mountian barrel. On the other hand Winchester 333/555 will not work at all with this barrel. Thats OK, 333/555 is not match quality ammo. My 10-22, with it's Green Mountian barrel, has been worth every penny that I've spent on it.

I bought a used 10-22 That has a Green Mountain barrel, a hogue stock, and a 3-9 simmons 8 point scope. At fifty yards I can hit string tied to a dangling steel weight. The string is maybe 1/8th of an inch. I'd say that's pretty awesome. I was shooting prone with out the aid of bipod. I never missed anything I've been aiming at. The only ammo that wouldn't seem to feed right was cci stingers but no big deal, probably because of the stinger shell being longer. But it feeds the cci 36 gr. hollows great all I use for it.

I have never written a review on this website even though I have bought tons of stuff from here so that should also be a testiment to how awesome this barrel is!! I recieved this barrel within 3 days of ordering which is about average from my midway experience. The barrel was a little tight just like other reviewers have stated so I sanded the barrel some (just enough to slide it in but keeping a tight tolerance). I took it to the range today to break it in and test it and I was just blown away!! I was shooting 7/8" 10 shot groups at 100 yds at the bench with sk rifle match ammo and 1'' 10 shot groups with CCI standard velocity....and all this with basically a stock 10/22 except for a Boyds evolution stock!..If only I could post a picture to go along with these claims!...I highly recommend this barrel!!

I've recently finished my 10-22 "build" project. I used a new action, Boyds laminated stock and the 20" stainless Green Mountain barrel. The trigger was worked over by a professional gunsmith to give a perfect single stage1 3/4 lb pull. Scope is an older 4 to 12 Burris. This rig is by far the most accurate 22 rimfire that I've ever pulled the trigger on. Using good match ammo, fifty yard five shot "bug holes" are very common with this rifle. CCI Mini-Mags will do 1/2" ten shot fifty yard groups all day long. I've had perfect functioning with all the ammo that I've tried so far, however, when building the gun I did use a Volquartsen extractor. It takes a lot of parts and pieces to build an accurate rifle, but if the barrel isn't up to the task, then it's all wasted money. If you want an accurate 10-22 then get a Green Mountain barrel and go from there.

This barrel and an archangel stock made my 10/22 my favorite toy. Groups of 1.5 inches @ 200yds with rem thunderbolt and 1 in with wolf. Buy it you will like it.

Bought this barrel for new project build and it is an absolute tack driver , one hole at 25yds to windy for anything farther, and fit was perfect , finish is good and bore was bright and shiney clean. cant wait to stretch it out farther . Midway great as always thanks.

Ordered the barrel after reading the reviews. Barrel arrived with some oxidation/discoloration in the stamping, took a few minutes to clean up.Went to assemble the barrel/receiver and they didn't fit. Because the barrel tang is a little oversize, it didn't quite work. Put the barrel in the freezer for an hour or two and ran a quick pass with emery cloth on a 5/8" dowel where the barrel tang and receiver mate. Second attempt with the frozen barrel and it dropped right in. Locked everything down, dropped the barreled action into a new Hogue stock, took it to the range and proceeded to drive tacks with it.Beautiful barrel, would highly recommend it only ding was the oxidation/discoloration but it wasn't bad enough that I can honestly down rate for it.

The reviews are true... after reading a few I ordered this barrel and a Hogue stock for my 10-22 (which was a pawnshop special)... now this thing looks and feels great, and shoots even better!! First group not so hot, but again listened to the reviews and used a brick to break it in cleaning after every 50 rnds... sighted in and got a two inch wide spread @ 100... (but only 1/4 up and down) must be trigger squeeze... polished hammer an sear.. TACK DRIVER ! .50" rested 1.5" free hand with sling @ 100... get one imeeeediatly!!

Before installing the barrel I polished it with J&B bore brite. Once installed, got a 1/2"group at 50yds and 1-1/4 at 100 yds..that's with only a 100rds thru it and would think it would settle down a little when I get a few more rounds thru it..for the price it's a great upgrade.
