Product Information

Great for training and practice, this 22 LR conversion kit allows inexpensive target shooting through your favorite firearm. Shoots and functions like the regular AR-15, except the slide doesn't remain locked open after the last shot, with no significant change in weight and balance. Assembly is incredibly simple and only requires replacement of the original bolt carrier. No permanent modifications are required for use. Includes one 26-Rnd magazine. For Semi-auto AR-15's only, will not work for M-16's.

Note: Rimfire conversion kits are NOT compatible with gas piston equipped AR-15's. The piston will not allow conversion to fit in the receiver.

Conversion works exactly ...

Conversion works exactly as described, drops in without modification to your AR-15. The slide doesnt lock open as with the regular bolt carrier group, however the bolt does hang up on the magazine follower after the last round to let you know you are empty. Conversion does tend to jam after 500 rounds per manufacturer spec, a quick cleaning remedies this. Note: the extractor on my conversion does not extract an unfired round from the chamber. The extractor only appears to work when actually fired. Only negative is the rear of the unit scratched my recoil buffer a little. Other than that this conversion is really fun. Worked good with Federal 36g HP, CCI Mini-Mag, and CCI Velocitor. Winchester 40g super X didnt work as good, several failures to properly eject the spent brass.

I have had several problems with the kit, for starters the Magazine fit was very poor, as others have mentioned. I spent 30 minutes filing parts down to get it to fit. I've had lots of failure to feed, and extract problems, with Remington, and Federal ammo. Most of the times the failure to extract requires me to take the bolt out, and dig the casing out of it. Sometimes it will shoot 50 rounds with no issues, sometimes it fails to feed every other round, I generally watch for the round to eject. This kit is very fun when it works, which isn't often. If I buy a product I expect it to work, this one has let me down.

This is an excellent product for the occasional .22 swap. One issue was using an older rock river 2 stage trigger that is notched hammer caused a lot of issues. The trigger would not reset or it would slam fire. Kinda fun but kinda scary when not expecting it. I liked shooting the conversion so much ended up building a dedicated .22 upper using the cmmg barrel and swapping the chamber adapter (comes with barrel). and that my friend is the cats pajamas. The accuracy is much better and is much easier to clean than a regular AR. The conversion in a .223 chamber leaves a lot of gunk when shooting .22. clogs chamber and gas system pretty good. But I still give it 5 stars all day, and the dedicated build more if I could!

Excellent product, fired everything I put through it from the first round with no issues and I started out with 100 rds of nasty Remington Game loads (you know the by the brick for $12 stuff). The bolt also cycled perfectly with Aquila 60gr subsonics, not a single problem. A lot of fun.

I approve of this conversion. I have put about a 1000 rounds through it without a hiccup. Only downsides to it are. Accuracy is not great but I am getting 4 to 5 inches at 100yds. And I rarely miss one of my 6 inch plates at 100yds. The magazine follower holds the bold open on last shot. So when you pull the mag the bolt closes. Then there is the matter of point of impact. It is about 14 inches low for me @ 100yds. Which is not a problem since I have a turret knob on my scope. So when I when I have the 233 bolt in I return the scope to zero. Then when I put this bolt in I just crank it up 14 inches. Left and right is less than an inch.

Great product. Just received the kit and took it to the range. No problems shooting Federal or Remington bulk .22 ammo. Over two hundred rounds down range with not one jam or mis-feed. Well worth the money for using in my Rock River AR.

So this is how my day went:1. Come home from work and open package2. Push out the take down pin on my AR3. Pull out BCG, install CMMG .22 Bolt4. Insert magazine5. Magazine does not come out. Pull realllllly hard and it doesn't come out, take the upper off and tap the magazine with a rubber mallet until it comes off. There are two little tabs on the back of the magazine that will jam in the receiver. If you just cut them off, or file them down or shave them down or whatever, it will work (at least with my receiver, maybe yours is different). 6. Luckily I bought one of the Black Dog magazines and it worked without issue, so I put my AR in my case, along with a 550 round box of federal bulk and went to the range.7. 550 rounds later, no jams, no issues, just a lot of holes and a lot of dead paper.I would give this 4 stars for the magazine, but 550 rounds in an hour and not a single failure? I put 30 rounds of wolf .223 through it to clear out the gas tube and it took 30 seconds to change out the BCG.The magazine that it comes with is crap. The Black Dog seems very nice.Get the speed loader! It only took me a minute or two (or sometimes 30 seconds) to empty a 20 round loaded mag but much longer to load it, my thumb hurts!So after day 1, I love it. After the next box of Federal it will have paid for itself.

I read lots of reveiws on-line to see if this would work with a piston drive upper, I wasn't sure if it would. I purchased it anyway, just to give it a try. I removed the piston rod and piston in my Bushmaster factory upper. The conversion worked flawlessly through 500 rounds. This is a great product.

It was indeed a bolt on except for the magazine. It needs to be sanded to fix into the mag well. Also had 10 malfunctions within 200 rnds of federals 525 blue box pack. Bunch of double feeds. I think the problem is the magazine. Kind of disappointed.

This kit should be a standard accessory when you buy an AR-15! Initially the bolt assembly was a little sticky and needed a little help closing with a small screwdriver. I put a heavy coat of oil on the bolt assembly and cycled the action rapidly for a couple minutes before trying to fire it with live ammo. After about 100 rounds (which doesn't take long) it cycled flawlessly. Federal bulk pack, CCI Mini-Mag, CCI AR Tactical, and CCI Blazer ammo all function flawlessly with this kit. Solid or hollowpoints all worked fine. It does not function very well with Aguila SSS (Sub-Sonic Sniper) 60 grain ammo. It will jam if you hold onto the magazine while firing or if you rest the magazine on something while firing. I am very pleased with this product and highly recommend it. It may require a short break-in period, but I expect that with any mechanical device.

When this kit came in I immediately tried it out, it fit my Colt AR perfectly and literally installed in seconds, it was so easy, I did spray some light oil on before inserting. I then went straight to the range and fired 200 rounds of federal ammo through it without 1 misfire. This is an wonderful product for the money and I would highly recommend getting one, my ten year old loves it as well. I give it 6 stars.
