The MGI D-Fender enhances a rifle's extraction by increasing the force of the extractor spring. Installation is easy: slip the D-Fender over the factory extractor spring and insert and re-install, no gunsmithing or permanent alterations required.

The D-Ring adds tension to the extractor, but not so much that it causes brass to shave on chambering as do the o-rings. Greater than 2K rounds on a 16"/carbine length gas/H buffer/std extractor spring with 100% reliability. No swelling using various solvents and carbon removers. If you don't do anything else to your AR, put one of these in.

Went a little crazy & installed one of these for every bolt/caliber I own for my MGI Hydra; 5.56x45mm, 7.62X39mm, 6.8 SPC etc. and had to take them back out because the extractor's were chewing the heck out of all the casings. Bottom line; if it ain't broke, don't fix it, all my stuff runs fine without them.

Put 50 rounds through my RRA LAR 15 with zero FTE. Worth the money for peice of mind. I don't reload, so I didn't look at the spent brass after and cannot comment on the shape of the cartridge after extraction.

Worked great for the first 50 rounds on my LR-308, then split in the upper left part of the "D". Found this out when cleaning the rifle. Per the comments below, it seems like it works for other types of rifles, but may not be suited for a .308.

This D-ring was installed with my first AR 15 build and thus I have nothing to compare it to . I will say the extraction so far has been firm, direct, and I know the case is ejecting up to 100 rounds at this point.

Works exactly as promised. I like it a lot better than the standard O-Ring because the spring actually goes through the D-Ring instead of sitting on/around the spring like the typical O-Ring. The O-Ring tends to wear the spring out faster as well because of the added pinch being put on the spring, that problem doesn't exist with the D-Ring!! Another note is that this D-Ring is solid, it has no wiggle and fits perfectly in the extractor housing. The only drawback is the price, but its pretty much a one time fee because I can see this D-Ring lasting tens of thousands of rounds!!

This little wonder came free with my MGI buffer, and it works whether I'm shooting .223/5.56, 7.62x39mm, or 6.8 SPC so far. Bottom line is if you have this installed under your extractor, that spent case IS coming out no ifs, ands, or buts. Now I have to get two or three more so I don't need to keep swapping it around.

Rifle length gas system, 7.62x39, carbine stock. Ejector spring is stock, extractor spring is brand new DPMS with black insert, 9mm buffer. The D-ring makes sure I can get the spent casing running at a steady 4' o clock. I like that. This is a good piece to use when using it with odd lengths or even odd calibers.

Should be cheaper for how small this part is you could lose it and never find it again its over priced in my opinion like most ar-15 products are.
