With Leupold Quick Release steel bases you can mount a scope, zero it, remove it, reattach it and remain nearly dead-on with your original point of impact. The key is precise machining of the patented lever mechanism. Turning the lever forward engages the base of the ring, pulling the ring down and forward, locking it into its "zero" position.

I have used this product ...

I have used this product on all my rifles and am very pleased with the ease of use and repeatability of scopes when removed for transporting or cleaning the gun. I am able to use 1 scope on several different rifles with no problem and very little set-up and alignment time. I have been very happy with this product and will continue to buy more of them.

Leupold bases go on tight ...

Leupold bases go on tight and sure and I know they will match up with my rifle's receiver perfectly. For a rock solid system, I highly recommend Leupold bases topped with Leupold rings, no matter whose scope rides on top of your rifle. You are sure to have a rock solid optic system with these products.

I have read reviews stating that the 2 piece quick release mounts can cause twisting problems with scopes on some rifles. I had the 2 piece mount on a previously owned 700. With this one piece mount (now mounted on a 700P) , the mounting is straight and secure. Once the rings are aligned properly (and the ring's mounting surface is worn in), there should never be any problems with properly securing the scope to the mount. This mount doesn't "look" as nice as the 2 piece, but for functionality, I'm much more satisfied with this mount.

Another quality product ...

Another quality product from Leupold. I regularly remove the scope from my rifle for storage in the gun safe. The POI has not changed in over 500 hard recoiling rounds. I do however wish that the etched "locked" location was a bit more visible.... (Nit pick) if only to speed up the learning process. I did however find that if you "lock" the rings by turning the locking levers backward, it will hold the scope on. This however is also a flaw; you have to have the levers in a horizontal position for it to release the rings. This may be fine when removing the scope for storage, but not necessarily when you have a furry critter bearing down on you when you have a compromised sighting system, and your trying to go to your open sights.
