Aguila ammunition features a wide variety of unique loads for special rimfire applications. Super Maximum is the fastest available 22 Long Rifle load at 1750 feet per second. This ammunition is new-production and non-corrosive and is recommended for use in bolt action rifles.

This is the hardest hitting prairie dog 22 ammo I have ever used. However, some guns love it and some hate it. I know all 22s are like that, but especially with this stuff. Also, it shoots VERY high compared to standard or high speed ammo. About 8 inches at 50 yards. You have to sight-in the gun special for this stuff.

I've shot this ammo through many different .22 lr rifles and pistols, all with the same problem-I can't hit the same place twice, put in some Federal ammo problem goes away, do not buy.

This is great ammo. No mis/hang fires. Shoots flat and fast.

That said, it's difficult making a true comparison. If it shot a 40 grain bullet, comparison would be easier. Other than target plinking, downrange effect on game is what really counts. 10 grains can make a difference between needing 1 shot or 2.

Using this ammo in my S&W M&P15/22 and this is now the only ammo I will run through it. Three words - fast, powerful & accurate. It's worth the extra couple bucks.

These are definitely a hot round. Hit 1700fps or better every time. Did have a few that failed to fire even after multiple strikes. Did not paper test them for accuracy, just chrony them. I would have given them a 5 star if not for the duds.

This is great ammunition ...

This is great ammunition super fast and also has good grouping I purchased this ammo for use in my new Sig Sauer 22lr auto pistol because they recommend a high power round for reliability but I started useing it in my custom Ruger 10/22 rifle and it worked great for varmits all arround it is great ammunition.

Very fast and extremely accurate. First 10 rounds at 50 yards with a brand new Savage MkII FV printed a 7 shot group of less than a half inch. 5 shots were in one small hole and 2 shots were in one hole. Both groups were touching edges. Yes there were 3 more holes in the bullseye but outside the group. I blame them on the factory trigger setting. It was much lighter than my Marlin 60. Once I settled down I repeated this close grouping through 30 rounds. It is fantastic ammo.

This is great ammo, it is the only ammo I shoot out of my ruger 1022 with a green mountain stinger barrel 20'' with 1:18 rate of twist. depending on whether I can group 3 shot with in about 1.5'' at 100 yd.

I purchased a Chiappa ...

I purchased a Chiappa 1911/22 a few months ago and had nothing but problems with it either jamming shells or stove piping them. One or Two rounds for every clip I shot! I figured I would try and get a round that had more ft. pounds of energy and muzzle velocity to help move the large action of the 1911 and help cycle the rounds. I was right! I have not jammed one shell since shooting these rounds. I know that some 22s like some rounds and hate others. My Chiappa loves these! This ammo made the difference of me keeping the pistol or trading it in on a new one.

I recently bought 2 ...

I recently bought 2 bricks of aguila super max (30 grain, 1750 ft/sec velocity at the muzzle). I tested the ammo against CCI stinger and the Remington Golden bullet at a fifty yard range with a Marlin 60. The goal of the test was to verify which of them shoots flatter (furthest POI with same bullet drop). The result was that, CCI Stingers had POI approximately 1.5 inches higher than the other two, while golden bullet and aguila super max had almost identical POI. This means only one thing to me, assuming velocity at the muzzle a given 1750 ft/sec, that the balistic coefficient of the super max bullet has to be around 0.02 vs my calculated 0.085 for stingers and 0.13 for golden bullet. It is obvious that if super max has the same POI with golden bullet at 50 yards its velocity will dissipate faster than the golden bullet's at longer distances due to its low balistic coefficient, therefore greater drop and reduced energy for super max at longer distances. This makes the ammo worthless,but maybe for very short distances (where bullet still retains high velocity). The only highlight about this ammo is that the groups are 0.4-0.75 inches, which is slightly better than golden bullet's (0.75-1.00 inch) at 50 yards.
