A must have book for ...

A must have book for anyone who handloads. The article on how to evaluate pressure is worth the price of the entire book. Mr. Waters covers almost every modern cartridge produced in the US in the 20th century, plus several wildcats and odd ball European numbers. His prose is quite readable, and gives hours of enjoyment. Only downside to this book is the poor reproduction of many of the photographs.

Although some of the content is dated, my third edition of Pet Loads has been a ready reference for guys like myself who load for many of the older (but still going strong) calibers. Waters in depth articles on the various cartridges (old and new) reflect a labor of love and display an in depth knowledge of subject, presented to the reader in a manner easily understood. His articles have saved me a great deal of heartburn. Prices asked for out of print editions (limited availability) would seem to indicate a serious reader demand. The one volume complete edition of Ken Waters Pet Loads is one big book containing previous data and the updates. The articles make interesting reading for either the novice or experienced handloader. Additionally, this may be the last of a vanishing race in reloading manuals regarding content and deserves a spot in your reloading library.The cover and pages are the same material as my third edition (two volumes) which have held up nicely. The photocopied pages arent fancy but they contain the message. Due to its large size there might be some cover separation down the line with extensive use. However, only time and use will tell.I ordered another copy for my son-in-law. Hopefully he will get as much use and enjoyment from it as mine has rendered these many years.

A must read for all serious load developers. Very valuable information on determining pressures with standard loading equipment. Accuracy loading with standard equipment also. Very informative!

Though it might be a bit outdated because of all the new powders that have come along, it is still a great source for reloaders. Ken Waters always had thoughtful incites into his methodology.

I has heard about this book for many years, and was really excited when my daughter gave it to me for Christmas...Only to be extremely disapointed. The data is fine, as are the articles, but the poor quality of the printing, basically poor photocopies of the mag articles, left a bad taste in my mouth. The photographs are useless, in most cases, as are some of the tables. I expected much more at this price level. It would be an exceptional book if the publisher merely made a camera ready copy of the contents and printed from that, rather than the photocopies.

Excellent book, with extensive discussion on developing loads for nearly 200 different rifle and pistol rounds including most modern rounds (excluding short magnums), obsolete rounds, a few improved and wildcat rounds and black powder rounds. There are also 17 articles on different aspects of reloading -- the article on judging pressure is worth the price of the book alone.
