Product Information

This stock replicates the factory stock but is construction out of highly durable and weatherproof polymer and features a 5-position collapsible buttstock. The glass filled fiberglass will not warp or crack and is impervious to moisture. All Choate stocks carry a lifetime warranty. This stock fits military M1 Carbines only, not Universal carbines.

Technical Information:

Length of Pull ranges from 12" to 16" with approximately 3/4" between each position of the stock

Stock is good. Not great. Good cheek weld, I can see iron sights really well. Collapsible stock locks into place in each hole but the stock has a little wiggle room. The front hand guard can be squeezed easy. I would replace the bottom plate from your old stock. The Choate stock does not come with one. Also it would limit the easy hand guard squeeze. That being said I don't think it will have an effect on the Rifle function. The Choate rifle stock was easy to put in. I put it on a Ruger mini 14 581 series ranch rifle. If you like the tactiCOOL look, you may like this. As for me, I am going back to my black Poly-Plastic stock from Ruger. God Bless!

California residents should be aware that placing your stock Mini-14 gun in this stock makes it an 'illegal assault weapon' in this state. The reason is the pistol grip and the collapsable stock. In order to comply w/ the CA law, the paddle magazine release lever has to be cut off flush w/ the base plate thus making the magazine NOT removable except w/ a tool like a small screwdriver. The key to the 'Assault Weapon' definition in CA is a pistol grip, collapsable stock and a removable magazine. I got this information from my local FFL dealer and gunsmith. So, even though this is a really good product and looks really cool, California residents have to weigh any advantage of the upgrade on the stock w/ making your Mini-14 a 10 shot gun.

Very easy to assemble. No ...

Very easy to assemble. No problems installing on my 181 series Ranch rifle. Only took 15 minutes from start to finish using only a flat head screwdriver. Good snug fit, NO trimming or filing and appears to be well built. No magazine problems at all using both Ruger and steel Pro Mag types. Bolt always stayed open after the last round was ejected and had no feed problems. I also used the stock Ruger hand guard as the Choate type does not appear to completely cover the slide assembly. Looks great too!
