Pad is 'slippery' which ...

Pad is 'slippery' which makes it difficult to keep a steel butt plate in your shoulder properly when shooting offhand. Especially true if you shoot rifle in a bladed style high power competition position. I will be modifying mine to work better. Maybe cutting a section out of the front to allow the rubber interior to grip the butt plate.

Used this product while shooting some 12 gage 870 grain dangerous game slugs, .458 win mag and .375 H&H loads with noticeable reduction in felt recoil.

I bought the Limbsaver ...

I bought the Limbsaver Protective Shooting Pad with the idea of using it in conjunction with my shooting vest (which already has a removable recoil in the inside pocket) to make the kick from my .45-70 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle and Carbine a little more bearable. Actually, the Limbsaver by itself does quite an effective job. The only possible detractor (and the reason I rated it only a "4", rather than the full "5") is the awkwardness of trying to get a good, secure fit on either shoulder such that the gun butt doesn't dislodge it. Other than that (which should come with repeated use and practice), it is well-made and simply needs to have some refinements made in the shoulder strap design.

Very effective in taking ...

Very effective in taking the pain out of shooting the big guns (375 RUM and 458 Lott in my case). Fits well enough except it needs a small strap to connect the chest strap to the belt on the left side. I was easily able to cobble together such a little loop of strap from my strap collection. This little strap should be adjusted to pull the chest strap down four to six inches and snug. The shoulder pad is thereby stabilized. One star off for that omission. I have used the PAST but liked the Limbsaver better.

Best recoil pad I have ...

Best recoil pad I have ever used. Was able to test side-by-side against another recoil pad and the Limbsaver was noticably better. In addition to better recoil reduction the pad fits better and stays in place while wearing.
