I bought this safety to go on a Norinco 1911 government model in .45acp. It has a very good finish and it was machined well with attention to detail and comfort. There was quite a bit of fitting and filling to be done on the frame to get a nice comfortable fit. I hated having to mess up the nice blue finish on my gun, but the overall end result was a comfortable, well fitting, positive working addition to the stock pistol I had. I also used a Wilson deluxe commander light-weight hammer that was a tight fit in the groove of the safety and worked very well together. I will have to re-blue my frame on the back side to be happy with the gun as a whole but it is worth it.

Rebuilt an old Colt that ...

Rebuilt an old Colt that didn't have a beaver tail cut. Used an Ed Brown jag kit & bench grinder to make this cut & trued up with files. This safety fell in easy but had to grind down the thumb safety skirt and the sides of the frame. Blended the safety with sanding cloth. The underside needed to be filed to clear the trigger stirrup. I file mine slightly angled up so when the hand is off of the safety and the finger releases the trigger, the trigger stirrup doesn't catch on the grip safety paw and resets it's self. I've always used this grip safety because it can't be beat for the price and fit! If slightly angles on the paw bother you you can always file off some martial off of the mainspring housing rests along with the grip safety stops to cause the safety to allow more paw obstruction for enhanced safety engagement.

Bought this to replace the standard beavertail on an RIA Tactical. This bigger memory bump made just the difference for my average-size hands to keep the grip safety disengaged. No fitting was necessary and it fit perfectly. Looks and works great.

I bought this for my Springfield 1911-A1 GI as an upgrade to help prevent some biting from my high grip as I shoot during Action Pistol Competitions. My factory beaver tail did not do a very good job at this. The part required a modification to my frame in order for it to be installed properly. I had to file down the frame to ensure proper fit of the beaver tail safety. Recommend that once purchased, you have a gunsmith on hand to ensure proper fit and function.

Great safety. Fit to a Series 80 Taurus PT1911. Just had to file down the top of the trigger engagement a bit. Blended perfectly with the frame with no modification. Fantastic look and feel.

I installed this exact part on a Kimber Custom Classic. Having no experience with gunsmithing and possessing much patience and a steady hand, I was able to hand fit this part. What I had to do is trim down the length of the paw and underside to function correctly. The fit to the frame is a perfect marriage, the tightest fit that I've ever seen. You have to hold the grip safety and shake the gun to make it rattle (when totally assembled), but not too tight. I also had to hand Dremel the sides of the frame to meet with the grip safety contours to include shaving the thumb safety it is an extreme fit indeed. Like lots of grip safeties after shooting the memory pad plays on my hand tendons and the corners of gun to my hand webbing tend to be sore due to the thinness and radius of contour drastically more thin & wide than roundish so recoil seems sharper at the corners of this safety. I highly recommend this one due to the close fit to a Kimber Custom Classic. As far as finish goes most grip safeties tend to have discrepancies in their exterior contours due to a molding process unless one of the select few that may be machined, so if you like a concentric contours you'll most likely use sanding cloth to achieve this to get rid of the waves for a great finish. I find it's best to completely refinish a gun when totally satisfied with all modifications. And as for my novice skill, this gun has passed many inspections from many high end gunsmiths I've got paperwork to prove it. I've got some 3,000 rounds through this gun since this modification, wouldn't trade this gun for a new one.
