The Frankford Arsenal Case Neck Ball Micrometer is the perfect tool to measure neck wall thickness. Inconsistent neck wall thickness will cause seated bullets to be misaligned with the bore. Don't buy this piece of ...

Don't buy this piece of junk. Throw 50 bucks in the trash. The end result is the same. Mine broke the first time I tried to use it. The center post snapped right off. Not worth the time and money.

I checked these with .500 ...

I checked these with .500 & 1.000" gage blocks when I received them and there was .0025" difference between the readings. Also they would not repeat the same reading when several readings were taken on the .500" gage block. Most of that issue appears to be an inconsistent ratchet mechanism.

Great product for sorting ...

Great product for sorting brass for neck wall thickness or uniform thickness. Met all my expectations. I have been using a dial indicator to complete this task. The product would not zero properly and was required to disassemble the micrometer, and make adjustments with the provided tool. It took a little time and effort to make the needed zeroing adjustments, as no instructions are provided. It is VERY awkward to use, but if you acquire a bench top micrometer stand/holder, available at tool stores, it takes away all the awkwardness, and becomes an extremely useful and productive tool......

I ordered the Frankford ...

I ordered the Frankford Arsenal Neck Ball Micrometer, instead received a Standard Tube Micrometer. I'm not going to complain because it will suit my purpose the same. However, the product received also doesn't match the product pictured in other ways either. The plastic tabs that tell you the accuracy ratings and company name were not even a quarter size of the one shown here, plus one immediately fell off upon opening and removing the micrometer from the package. Again, no biggie because the product still functions as needed, the problems are only cosmetic. But I expected much more from Midway and Frankford Arsenal.

Have needed one of these ...

Have needed one of these for years and finally "bit the bullet." This is your "basic 101" vernier scale micrometer modified for case wall thickness measurement. Couldn't be simpler or more straightforward. Scale is easy to read - if you know how to read a standard micrometer. Not digital, but it won't wreck your budget. I don't worry much about neck wall variations for my general large game hunting and practice loads, so I only need this tool for a small number of cases that I load for maximum accuracy. A high volume bench-rest shooter may find a digital set a lot faster, but for me this serves my needs. I can't find any fault with this product.

I highly recommend this if you want to turn your case necks. This tool is a huge plus to anyone who turns their necks. It is not cheaply made.

This is a well made piece ...

This is a well made piece of equipment, excellent fit and finish. The ratchet screw makes consistent readings pretty simple. Unlike the photo, mine came with a blue finish frame...other than that, it looks just like the photo. This reads in .0001" on the Vernier scale. There is no metric scale. (I don't know how there could be both...that would be incredibly confusing on a Vernier micrometer.) Comes in a nice plastic case, with an instruction sheet. I use this to check case neck thickness of 223 and 308 to sort cases, works great. For the price, it's a great deal.
