I love the much better trigger pull and the fact that the "trigger flop" is gone. I was able to install this trigger in a Marlin 1895 MR without fitting. However, this is a job for someone who can put back together what they took apart. I only needed screw drivers and a nail to push out one pin. I recommend a deep socket on a handle to remove the hammer's mainspring.

Had my gunsmith put this in my 1952 Marlin 336. Had a very sweet trigger pull, BUT on half cock, you could still pull the trigger and have it fall. I wanted the trigger to work so he had to do some internal reworking and also file some metal off the lever to create enough room for the trigger to drop the hammer when pulled. The gun is now safe and the trigger pull is better than it was, but not as good as it could have been. I think the Trigger is made for newer model Marlins.

Nice improvement to my Marlin 1894

Pros:
+ greatly reduced pull: from >5# to <2#
+ crisp, very little creep
Cons:
- required some stoning to fit properly
- actually may be a little too light for some uses.

Overall, I would recommend this item for general use and, if you practice with gloves on, hunting. I have never had it release from dropping. A number of my friends with various calibers of lever guns from various manufacturers are jealous - sweet!

Amazing drop in trigger job!

I have 2 of these. The one in my 1895 dropped the trigger pull from 6 to 3 1/2 lb. Very crisp and no creep. The reason I gave it 4 stars is that it did not do the same in my 336. I dropped it to about 4 1/2 lb. Not a huge improvement over the 5 lb trigger it already had.
But still very crisp and creep free.

This is a must have on a Marlin lever action to maximize your accuracy. (Due to the heavy loose factory trigger.) This part can be installed in 15 minutes with common household tools. (if you can perform light mechanical tasks.) Brings trigger pull to a light, crisp break. Good quality materials. removes the marlin trigger flop. The more you use it the smoother it gets. Midway had this delivered to me in 2 days!! Awesome!! You can buy this and enjoy USING your gun instead of leaving it to collect dust.

I installed this Wild West trigger in a Marlin 1895 GBL last evening. Using a Lyman digital trigger pull gauge, I got an average pull of 2 lb 1 oz with excellent break. Sides of both the existing and this trigger fit quite tight in the slot of the receiver, so I polished the sides of the receiver with metal polish which smoothed it up. Excellent trigger - worth every penny.

This item greatly improved the trigger pull on my 38-year-old North Haven Marlin 336 and was a quick drop-in replacement. So I bought one for my 3-year-old North Haven 1894c. Happy Trigger too fat to slip in easily on the 1894. Took some "fitting." But now the 1894 has a much lighter, cleaner trigger pull. I also installed Wolff's reduced power hammer springs on both guns. Both fire all primers reliably and make for a much lighter, faster lever feed. But Wild West should put out a slightly narrower trigger for the 1894s. Hence 4 stars, not five.

Man what a world of difference. If you hate the flop and/or the hefty trigger pull of the factory marlin trigger, then you need to get this! Read all the reviews and they are all right. Best thing you can buy for your lever action. And as far as needing a gunsmith, if you have common sense and can weild a screwdriver, you can do it yourself. Just follow some online directions and you can do it yourself in like 20 mins tops. I did mine and I ain't no gunsmith bro...

Trigger dropped right in ...

Trigger dropped right in with no problem. There are several good install guides online. In my 1989 Marlin 444SS the factory pull was an average of 5.75 lbs, with a lot of sponginess and the famous Marlin flop. After the install the trigger is crisp with no flop at all, but pull weight didn't change at all. I don't know how all these guys are getting 2.5 to 3 lb. pulls. Carefully stoned the hammer with a ceramic stone so no issue there, but trigger pull is still heavy; still, overall a big improvement.

Very well made nice piece. Installed no problem; piece of cake. Came in at 2 lbs. after a light sanding of the sear with 400 grit.
