The Daniel Defense Lite Rail is a 1-piece, Free Float Handguard featuring an uninterrupted upper rail platform, 6061-T6 Aircraft Grade Aluminum construction and a Type III Hard Coat Anodized Finish. The Lite Rail incorporates precision CNC-machined M1913 Picatinny Rail surfaces along its entire length for the addition of lights, lasers, vertical grips and/or other tactical accessories. The skeletonized design of the quad rail handguard removes all unnecessary weight and bulk, keeping the rifle trim and lively for better handling qualities. While light weight was certainly a design goal, Strength and Rigidity are the Lite Rail's true defining characteristics, ensuring military-grade durability and performance under the most demanding of circumstances.

Installation requires the removal of the factory barrel nut, replacing it with Daniel Defense's proprietary "Bolt-Up System" featuring a hardened steel barrel nut and simplified alignment of the upper-to-handguard top rail interface. This requires the use of the included Daniel Defense Barrel Nut Wrench. Six Grade-8 Mil-Spec Fasteners are then used to secure the handguard tube to the upper receiver via a pair of matching aluminum Bolt-Up Plates. The "Bolt-Up System" is an extremely strong and proven design, tested thoroughly by USSOCOM who selected it and the Daniel Defense RIS II Handguard for the SOPMOD II Program.

Installation Instructions:

Ensure the firearm is unloaded and pointed in a safe direction. Remove the upper receiver from the lower. If there is a flash suppressor and/or front sight base, these need to be removed next. Remove the old handguard. Using a standard barrel nut wrench, remove the existing barrel nut. Place the Lite Rail barrel nut collar plate over the threaded receiver portion from which the factory barrel nut was removed. Thread on the new Daniel Defense Lite Rail barrel nut. Tighten the barrel nut down securely, making sure that the gas tube is aligned and inserted into the upper receiver. Next slide on and properly align the Lite Rail handguard with the upper receiver rail, and then bolt it to the barrel nut collar plate with the six included Allen head fastener screws.

This is a great rail, no doubt about it. Mounts very solid. I only wish that is had an extension which came out from the rail to rest against the sides of the AR receiver to prevent any possible rotation like Troy rails have. I doubt this would ever be a real problem, especially with my delicate handling of the rifle, but it would just give me comfort:)

Worth every penny. It ...

Worth every penny. It mounts rock solid, looks and feels great, and is the Cadillac of commercially produced free float rails. It also only added 4 ounces over the weight of my plastic handguard (including the delta ring, barrel washer, and 5" rail on the bottom of my plastic handgaurd). Buy it, you certainly wont regret it!!!!!!!

I built an 18 inch SPR ...

I built an 18 inch SPR with a Sabre Defense barrel and this forend looks awesome on it. This is possibly the best free float available! Every free float should install like this one. Very high quality and easy to install. Pricey but well worth the money. You get what you pay for. Daniel Defense sets the standard with their products.

I am very satisfied with Daniel Defenses' Lite rail handguards. I own both 9" and 12" for my ARs. The Lite rails are lightweight and display quality machining. They look and feel great as you would expect given their high price. The 9" is perfect fit for my 16", mid-length gas Armalite that has a fairly large gas block. The gas block sits just out in front of the rail (beyond the end) with no interference.The 12" rails/handguards fit nicely over a low profile gas block (also DD) on any carbine or mid-length gas gun. I am most impressed with the well-thought-out mounting system. The Lite rails come with a special barrel nut that secures a mount that supports the entire rail. The barrel is perfectly centered within the diameter of the handguard. The only negative is the need to purchase their proprietary barrel nut wrench.

Amazing. Surprisingly ...

Amazing. Surprisingly light weight. Much more so than the 10" Troy MRF it replaces. Expensive, but well worth the money. The attachment system is genius. No aligning the gas tube, just torque and slide on the rail. Looks killer on a 16" barrel. Daniel Defense is really coming out with some cool stuff.

Top of the line rail, ...

Top of the line rail, everything about it is perfect. It is super light, strong, looks great, feels great, low profile. Very easy to install, took about 15 minutes and it was all done. Well worth it. Also comes with 3 rail protectors. Free floats the barrel, looks amazing on the gun. I hope you find this helpful.

These are my favorite rails that are currently on the market at any price. They are absolutely rock solid, and they really are super-light.Installation is easy, but you'll need either a DD Lite Rail wrench or a modified carbine stock wrench.Definitely a winner!

I've recently installed this quad rail. Assuming one has the ability to remove the barrel nut on their rifle this is the most solid quad rail you can purchase. The unique mounting system is what makes this rail special, end of story. I really like the slim width of this rail. It is much easier to hold than other free float units I have. The one minor complaint I have with this product is the T-Rail marks. They aren't large enough or bright enough to be of real value, they're hard to see. All of the uppers I have used recently have T-Marks that are considerably easier to see than this rail system. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.
