The Redding Big Boss II Press is built with some of the same features as the original Boss press but built on a heavier frame with a larger ram and more usable ram stroke to make loading large magnum cartridges a breeze. Some of the new features include an innovative spent primer collection system which has a tube that redirects the primers away from the press and the "Smart" primer arm that automatically swings into position during the ram stroke and flips out of the way when not in use. Dies and shellholders sold separately.

Excellent made in America press

I was looking for a nice single stage press to serve along side my Hornady LNL AP. While I still use the Hornady as my primary press, I wanted something that could handle rifle rounds easier and take on some of the harder resizing operations.

Recently I got into reloading the 357 Sig cartridge, with new starline brass things were going great on the LNL AP. Then I got some used brass and started having chambering issues. I got a LE Wilson case gauge and it looked like there was possibly the dreaded Glock bulge at the base of the case. I got the Lee Bulge Buster and in combination with the Big Boss II, it was fairly easy work full size resizing all the used 357 sig brass (score 1 for the Big Boss II). Thinking I was out of the woods, I made another batch with the LnL AP, but I was still getting chambering issues.

Apparently the 357 sig can headspace off the case mouth (correct) or the shoulder (incorrect) if the shoulder is not set back to SAMMI spec. No matter how far down on the case plate on the LNL AP, I was not getting the shoulder set back like factory rounds. I was using a Hornady sizing die and was about to try another manufacture sizing die. After looking at the shell plate on the LNL AP, it looked like I was getting some flex during the sizing operation. I put the sizing die in the Big Boss II, and finally I was getting the shoulder set back in the same place as factory rounds. My brass also finally dropped completely in the LE Wilson gauge too. Once again the Big Boss II saved the day.

I'm extremely happy with my purchase, everything about it feels like quality, plus I like the fact that it was made in the USA.

Nice Press

Bought this press to compliment a Hornady L&L. So far have used it to pop primers out of military brass and have loaded some .308. My plan is to use the Big Boss II to reload small batches of rifle caliber ammo. Ram was a little rough feeling at first but seems to be wearing in and is very smooth after a little lube and use. Love the way the punched out primers fall out the tube at the bottom of the ram. Seems like the other presses with the little catcher box would be a spill waiting to happen. I added the Hornady conversion bushing to this press so I can quickly change dies without resetting anything. Works great and great build quality. Love Redding products.

This is the best press Ive ever used period its leaps and bounds ahead of my old Lee, it handles everything from 204 ruger to 45-70 flawlessly. Now I need a heavier bench for the press,awesome product!

WOW!! I love this press! Had the Lee and gave it away after using this one. I have used RCBS and it cannot compare. Solid, Heavy, Well Built! I did have an issue with the primer arm being slightly too short, but Redding sent another out ASAP and it fixed the issue. Want a good press.. Dont pass this one up, I wish I hadnt spent the money on the cheaper presses and had just gone Redding from the beginning. Great AMERICAN MADE products.

Excellent press. Very heavy, smooth, consistent, and well made. The spent primer drop tube works pretty well, but you will get the occasional flyer through the primer arm cut out. The primer arm itself does a good job priming for a press mounted priming system. You have pretty good feel for when the primer seats itself. Overall, well worth the investment.

Great press. Tolerances ...

Great press. Tolerances are very tight; some people complain about the long stroke for small cartridges (223 rem), I like it though. It is very powerful for full length resizing and will handle large magnums with ease. The ram is tight enough that it will stay half way up if you want a shorter stroke will resizing a large amount of small cases. I have Dillon progressive presses, various Lee presses(have not been happy with those), and RCBS, and this is my favorite single stage. The only press that might outshine this one is a Forster Co-Ax, however I do not have one yet.

The Big Boss II with its 1" diameter ram and massive frame makes the job of removing spent primers and sizing magnum cases much easier. In addition the entire loading station is kept clean and free of debris with Redding's spent primer catcher. A big bonus is that any traditional shell holder by Hornady, RCBS, or Redding can be used in the Big Boss or Big Boss II so there is no need to purchase a whole new set of shell holders with this press. Big Boss II also will handle any die that has the industry thread standard of 7/8"-14 with the added feature of being able to remove the bushing, if the need arises, for the use of oversized dies. As with all Redding products this press carries the Redding Life Time Warranty. The Big Boss II is well worth the money.

I was looking to purchase my first reloading press, since ammunition is getting very expensive, and wanted to search for the best reviews on a press. In my search on the web at many different shooting supply retailers, I found that the Big Boss ll by Redding and Co-ax press by Forster, were among the two best sellers. I decided to go with the Big Boss ll for two main reasons. One was the lever handle is located on the lower side of the press, so you can be sitting down when performing your task and not on the top middle like the Co-ax, which gives me the impression that you will certainly have to be standing up in front of the press to use it. The second reason was it has a large 4 1/2" inch off-set frame opening, which will make it nice to load large belted magnums. Thank you MidwayUSA for the best possible deal.
