Sharp cutter.

I was leary about ordering this after the many bad reviews, however I didn't have a lot of choice as the old cutter head was shot. The pilot hole is center, the machining clean, the welds to join the carbide to the head were very neat; far better than what is pictured. I expected this cutter to be a little sharper so I am giving this four stars. I don't know if Lyman changed suppliers for this cutter since the past reviews are so bad, but I know that mine works great.

I decided to buy one of these carbide cutters even though the reviews were not stellar, because none of the reviews were recent. I will tell you, the cutter I received works great. The center diameter for the pilots was the correct size and held the pilot securely, the cutter did not wobble, it cut a nice, clean chip and the pilot was easily extracted from the trimmed case. As a matter of fact, there was not much of a burr on the ID or the OD, which made de-burring a breeze. I would buy this cutter again and would recommend it to anyone. Don't be afraid to invest in this cutter. Any quality problems Lyman may have had, appears to be solved.

I find that this cutter trims a lot smoother than the regular steel cutter. Because it is carbide it will last a lot longer.

Due to the number of cases I trim, I decided to get a carbide cutter for my Lyman Trimmer. I have yet to use it as the center hole is so oversize that the caliber pilots are significantly off center when they are tightened with the set screw. Would not recommend.

I was not satisfied with the cutter head. It was off-center, it cut my cases great, being carbide, but it had a obvious wobble when it was turning. The regular cutter head was more centered. I would NOT buy this product again.

After not having good cutting from the steel trimmers I thought the carbide cutter would be just the thing. Only 1 of the cutters contacted the mouth of the case and it was not that sharp. I am dissatisfied with it, would not buy again.
