Open fiber optic sights are a great sight for primitive muzzle loading hunting applications where bench rest accuracy is not required; lighting conditions are not always optimal; and scopes are not desired—or legal. I hunt and shoot competition with a patched round ball in what most would call 'primitive' muzzle loaders. Aging eyes and fine open iron sights are not always compatible; especially under less than optimum lighting conditions such as early morning, late evening, or dark woods. The Williams optical Fire Sight Set was easy to install and was a good solution for me as it permits excellent sight alignment under all field conditions. The sight was easy to adjust and has endured extensive range session and a hunt. Should the need arise; I would definitely purchase another Williams Fire Sight Set CVA with Octagon Barrel Fiber Optic Green.

Worked extremly well, installed easily, only thing had to file a lot off the dovetail to make fit. It was not a 3/8 slot on the oct. barrell other than that great sight.

I used these to convert a traditional style flintlock to fiber optic sights for the Pennsylvania flintlock deer season. I sighted in the rifle and I was able to shoot it very well. I really like the sight picture, and I was able to shoot good groups.

Do not buy these sights! ...

Do not buy these sights! I installed these on my CVA Hawken and they worked great - for about one month. Then one day at the range, I noticed that the fiber optic insert on the rear sight had broken right in two and half had already fallen out. The peices left were not repairable. To make matters worse, this was followed two weeks later by the front fiber optic bead falling right off the gun. Unbelievable! I was able to glue it back in with clear epoxy but the rear sight is still practically useless. This was not operator error! I am a skilled amateur shooter and gunsmith, and I baby all of my guns, probably to a fault. I learned the hard way that this is just a real bad product.
