The Adams Arms Gas Piston Upper Receiver was designed specifically for Adams Arms with .180" gas tube hole which allows use of Adams Arms gas piston system without the need for a bushing. Upper receiver is machined from aluminum to military specifications and has M4 feed ramps and T-marked A3 flat top. The entire assembly is then Type III hard coat anodized. Proudly made in the USA!

Technical Information:

Upper has forward assist and ejection port cover installed.
Upper is compatible with other manufacturers gas piston systems as well as Direct Gas Impingement operation.

The finish was bad on my Adams Recvr

I purchased this upper receiver a year ago to go with the Adams gas piston system I was using on a new build. The finish had nicks and metal showing when received. After two hundred rounds the bolt was eating into bare aluminum on many spots, and I was using the forward assist way too much. I bought and new DPMS upper and the gun is running perfectly after another 400 rounds. The gas piston kit has been a 5 star product, but this upper was a bust, should have returned it. I now read of many others, as late as this August, having the same finish problem .

Finish is very questionable. Scratches/chips easily. Brass deflector is essentially bare metal now after my first string of shooting. I will be buying another manufacture for future builds and manually drill out the hole for the piston bushing.

Good spec control on the ...

Good spec control on the upper. The finish was not so great in the area where the barrel meets the receiver. The hole for the gas piston was a bit too small and the piston would not cycle properly, I had to open up the hole by manually turning a drill bit. Now it works great.

Works flawlessly after 600 rounds. It seem to have a need for that break-in period. During the first 600 rounds, there were very few cases of Failure To Feed (FTF) and Failure To Extract (FTE), however, this became less frequest during normal use. Now, it runs without any issues. Hat's off to Adams Arms for a very well made product.

I have only fired about 20 rounds after finishing the build, but it worked flawlessly and the fit and finish was perfect. I will buy another for my next build.
