Designed for hard use by serious professionals, this heavy-duty trigger guard is machined from solid aluminum and hard coat anodized for a durable, non-reflective finish. This bottom metal accepts the Accuracy International AICS-pattern detachable box magazines. The paddle-style magazine release is ergonomically proportioned for easy manipulation, even with gloved hands. Installs in most factory and aftermarket stocks with some minor inletting. Savage, Howa, and Winchester models may require action modifications.

This bottom metal is a ...

This bottom metal is a very well made product, hefty and strong spring for the release. Anodizing is very heavy and tough. It did not scratch after several assy's and dis-assy's. I had to do a ton of inletting on a non-factory stock and a little dremel work to the bottom of the action, but CDI will mill your receiver to fit for a few bucks with free shipping...what a deal. After several hours of fitting, filing, cutting and pillar bedding, I had one kick-butt set-up, it is beautiful and cycles my 300wsm perfectly. I had to adjust the magazine lips a couple of times to get it just right, but now it is smooth and totally reliable. thanks CDI and Midway!

It says: "May require action modifications" for the Winchester. I can't speak for other models, but putting one of these on a PBR *definitely* requires modification of the receiver - above and beyond what is shown in the included instructions. Also, be prepared to do a lot of work on any stock other than one made specifically for the PBR. You may have to do some work on the magazines as well. In particular, the feed lips will probably need to be spread. The magazines (AI brand) feed ok, but they are not as easy to seat as you might be accustomed to with a semi-auto. Mine require tapping the bottom of the magazine to get it to seat fully. The top of the trigger guard (the part that lies against the bottom of the stock) sticks down pretty low and may interfere with access to the trigger. It just depends on how you hold the rifle. This could be fixed with further inletting, but that was more work than I was willing to do. Bottom line, it is a big improvement over the factory detachable magazines, but send it to a gunsmith for installation (CDI will do it for you) if you aren't skilled and *very* patient.

Overall quality is very ...

Overall quality is very good. I thought that this was a bolt on installation. It was not. The stock needed to be relieved around the stock screws, not a big deal. Also, the bottom of the receiver had to be relieved. This required gunsmith attention. Not a do it yourself project, but still good gear.
