Choate Magazine Extensions offer extra capacity with minimal modification to your shotgun. These quality steel tubes are perfect for competition or home defense. Number of rounds is in addition to factory capacity.

Notes:

Spring, follower and base clamp included

Fits barrels 20" and longer

Technical Information

Newer Remington shotguns use an internal ratchet system to hold the magazine cap in place.

If your shotgun has the internal ratchet system cap, you need to drill out the dimple on the guns magazine tube with a 3/16"drill bit in order to fit the extension to the tube.

Mag extender works fine. I gave it four stars instead of five due to the fact that it doesn't sit exactly parallel to the bottom line of the barrel. Serves its intended purpose and I've had no FTF issues whatsoever.

I chose this mag extension to match the 18.5" parkerized barrel I just purchased and what a match! It installed in seconds, is well made and does everything the product information says it will. Could'nt be happier!!

Does not work with my 870 ...

Does not work with my 870 and the instructions are very poor. The orange stopper does not even fit into the fixed magazine. Used the original but had feed problems. Seems decent quality, not plastic. Rugged fit. Just doesnt work...

I was pretty happy with this magazine tube extension. The only problem I had was cutting the spring which wasnt a big deal but would be nice if the company would do it for you. Also, I decided on to use the factory 870 magazine follower. I didn't like the tang on the one that came with the tube. The tube fit really well on my Remington 870 Express. I have the older model so I didn't have to drill out the dimples. A great buy and I highly suggest it to anyone.

After all the gunsmithing I had to do, it looks great and works well. The spring was too long and had to be cut. The dimples on the 870 had to be drilled, smoothed and blued. The orange follower it came with was too wide in diameter and had to be sanded down to fit down the magazine tube. The finish looks and matches great. Expect a little work to get this installed.

Well-built magazine tube! Parkerized finish matched the finish on Remington 870 Express perfectly. It's a solidly build unit that's robust yet not clumsy & bulky. I couldn't get Scattergun Technology's tube to fit under a heat shield even after grinding the heat shield's clamp down 1/8"; while the Choate magazine tube fitted perfectly. The recoil spring is stronger than factory's spring which gives a very positive & fast feed even with buckshot & slugs. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate this Choate 15. Try it out & you won't regret it.

Did not fit my 870 ...

Did not fit my 870 Wingmaster magnum. The threaded portion of the Choate would not go on the tube more than about 3/4 turns. I measured:Choate minor diameter: 0.972 inChoate major diameter: 0.996 in (approx)Rem major diameter: 1.000 in approxRem minor diameter: 0.969 inIn effect the Choate is at least 0.005 to small. That takes a lathe and more time than I have, so I'm returning it for a different brand. Perhaps I'll have better luck there. My gun is older, so none of the dimple nonsense to worry about.

Good product, but the instructions were on the sparse side. Minor application of the Dremel was required in a couple spots to make the follower fit. Also, one must grind out the locking tab for this to work. Last but not least, HOLD ON TO THE SPRING!!! It's bound to fly out.

Perfect fit and finish ...

Perfect fit and finish for my Remington 870. Easy installation except for having to grind down the dimples on the existing magazine tube. Ends up being just a hair shorter than my 18.5" barrel and looks fantastic. It even came with the barrel clamp with swivel and a nice new orange follower which are a nice bonus. Very satisfied with the quality for a good price.
