For average use this is a ...

For average use this is a great scope for the money. If you're looking for something to spot the hair on a gnat's butt at 600 yards, this isn't it. If you want to see bullet holes in paper, this will do nicely, and you'll have money left for where it counts!

This spotting scope is ...

This spotting scope is useful for checking bullet holes & groups at 100 yards, but at 200 yards, you can see better with a quality 12x riflescope.Eye-relief is nonexistent, and the ocular lens is injection-molded clear plastic.For the price, this spotting scope is OK, but it is strictly an entry-level product.

For the price it's hard ...

For the price it's hard to beat, but you get what you pay for. This spotting scope is great for spotting medium sized game(turkey, coyote)at mid ranges(200-400yd) If you need a device to see 30 cal. bullet holes at 200 yards, this isn't the product for you. At 60 power the image greys on even the brightest of days. If your looking for precision optics, they can't be had at this price.

I guess I am just lucky ...

I guess I am just lucky as my scope (although not in the class of one costing 8-10 times more) still does a bang up job. I just verified what I am about to say a minute ago, so it was fresh in my mind.Environment conditions were: Temp-90 degrees F, bright sun, and slight (approx 5 mph) wind from 240 relative.My primary use is as follows:1. Identify Game when hunting. I enjoy a good vantage point and the ability to look closely at the areas around me which this scope does quite sufficiently.2. Read the wind over the distance from me to the intended target. Again this has more than adequate bang for the buck.3. Read targets and where I hit. Now comes the interesting area. I shoot in southern California so the range tends to have a decent mirage at times. It has nothing to do with scope clarity as far as reading where I hit in that case, and as far as 300 yards I can see well enough if the mirage is not there to pretty much call the shot. I am not wealthy enough to afford a high end spotting scope for punching paper, and to those of you who can my hat is off to you. Of course, the .338 cal hole is larger so I imagine if I were shooting a .243 or .223 my abilities would be reduced quite a lot.For me, the scope works well and if something happens to it in the field, it is easily replaced.
