Product Information

These non-corrosive, all weather primers deliver fast, dependable ignition under any shooting condition. Primers are constantly and rigorously tested for consistency and sensitivity at temperatures and conditions far beyond the range of normal usage. Winchester guarantees better sensitivity for more positive firing in all guns, carefully-controlled weights of primer mixtures, consistency in size and quality, precise measurements and tolerances for anvil heights and stability in extremes of temperatures and humidity.

Packaging is marked for Standard or Magnum pistol loads. Consult your reloading manual before reloading.

I have been using these primers for 11 years in 45 ACP, 44 magnum, 44 special, and 44/40 for a total of 4800 rounds. I use a RCBS hand primer. I have NEVER had a misfire. I also find excellent consistency in the accuracy of the loaded rounds.

I have been using Magtech and CCI primers but when reloading materials were in short t supply, I was able to get a case of these at a gun show. After reloading a couple hundred 45 ACP with these, I started testing some of my reloads using my Glock 36. Alarmingly, 9 rounds out of my first box of 50 did not detonate even though the striker made a significant dent in the primer. This ratio continued as I checked additional loads. Some of these would detonate on the second try and some on the third and some not at all. Since I had loaded some "self defense" rounds for customers I recalled them all and refunded their money. I then contacted Winchester Ammunition. They asked for samples so I unloaded 10 of the misfired rounds and sent to them just the primed case and included another 15 rounds loaded. I am still waiting for an answer from them. I rate this product for the time being at zero stars but I had to check at least one star to post this review.

I have bought 6000 of ...

I have bought 6000 of these 2 years ago. I have loaded shot 5200 of these with only 1 primer not going off. I used these in 44 mag, 44special, 45 colt and 45 auto. Keep in mind I load these with a ram primer using no gloves, so 1 in 5200 is darn good and deserves 5 stars. And, they truly do work well with standard and magnum loads.

I have been reloading ...

I have been reloading since the early 80's< I have used RCBS, Lee and Dillon equipment throughout this time and for all my .4x rounds I have relied on Winchester large pistol primers and to date can only recall one incident where I had a failure to detonate. I cant even guess at the number of rounds I cranked out over the past decades but I can say that case prep, powder and primer storage have always been part of my shop and I expect this to be a major part of my success.

I suspect that these ...

I suspect that these primers are more sensitive, in the packaged state, to humidity, temperature and contamination than other primers. Loaded 100 .45 LC and had three misfires, 100 .45 ACP and had three or four misfires. Before using them, I stored them in a secure closet in the garage that is not air conditioned. Also, my auto prime broke so they were primed one at a time by hand and it was HOT where I was loading. The combination of a humid Florida summer and sweaty fingers were probably the culprits. Incidentally, Remington primers stored under the same conditions have not been problematic.

I have used Winchester ...

I have used Winchester primers for the majority of my reloads and have great success with them. They work well with my Lee turret press and are priced competitively as well. I will continue to use Winchester large pistol primers until they change something and give me a reason not to anymore.

I have used these in my .45ACP loads for 20+ years now without any problems. The only time I've seen others have them fail to fire is when they are not fully seated in the case, otherwise they always work perfectly. I loaded somewhere in excess of 10k rounds last year with these and would have this year had I been able to get them on a regular basis, shame they aren't $17.95 like they were last year around this time but at least they are somewhat available again.

These primers are the BEST. It's always great to use Winchester because they are used for regular or MAG loads. Always better off having a little more ignition than a little to less if you know what I mean. I load 45 ACP and 44 MAG...these are the best primers for 44 MAG. BUY THEM NOW WHILE SUPPLIES LAST!!
