The Hornady Lock-N-Load Powder Measure is loaded with innovative features that serious reloaders demand. The design allows you to change powders and settings with the push of a button. With the proper accessories you can dispense between .5 and 75 grains of powder. The push button release allows you to quickly change metering inserts for predetermined charge weights, so you can switch calibers quickly and easily without the hassle of resetting the measure. The tension on the metering insert is adjustable with an "O" ring that allows a slight amount of tension on the metering insert to make fine, incremental adjustments. The precision tolerance of .002" between the drum and rotor eliminate powder binding between the frame and the drum. Measure comes with small and large drop tubes plus a mounting plate. Measure has standard 7/8"-14 threaded dies.

Got one of these in ...

Got one of these in combination with a Lock-n-Load AP press. While it is about as accurate as it gets for a powder measure of this type, consistently throwing powder charges plus or minus 0.1 grain, it does have one rather large drawback: the hopper is made of a plastic which self-destructs when in contact with at least one brand of gunpowder! I learned the hard way that extended contact with Bullseye causes the plastic powder hopper to warp, blister, and bend, making it ugly and possibly unsafe. BOO to Hornady on that count; the powder hopper on my RCBS Uniflow NEVER did that. It escapes explanation why Hornady would build a powder measure part from materials that self-destruct upon contact with...gunpowder. Be REALLY careful with this one. Since I had to replace the powder hopper, I don't let Bullseye sit in it for one minute longer than necessary. So far, I haven't had a repeat of the melting powder hopper phenomenon, so perhaps that's the key. FYI, you can use this measure perfectly well with an RCBS Rock chucker or other single-stage press.

compared to a 30 year old rcbs and a newer redding measure this is not accurate at all +2/-2 grains of powder my others are +1/-1 with same powder a waste of money

Solid quality as usual from hornady, I was impressed by the heft of the item. used h110 and was only off by .1 to .3 from desired load. this was for the 300 aac blackout. saves sooo much time over measuring each load from the scale. get one!!

I reload only handgun ...

I reload only handgun calibers, using mostly flake powders and I weigh every charge. After 1K plus rounds, I rate this measure's accuracy at within .25 grains; very few exceeded this level, with only two reaching .3 grains off. Human error has to be factored into these numbers.I encountered significant static powder cling in reservoir and upper cavity area. Since the static was confined to these areas, the accuracy of charges thrown was not significantly affected; Hornady's suggestion of wiping dryer sheets on the OUTSIDE of the reservoir area worked best after allowing the sheets to become completely dry.Hornady's Powder Measure Stand (purchased separately) is worth the additional expense; L-N-L is a very useful feature.Other brands may throw equally consistent charges, but the Hornady's versatility and ease of use makes it, for me , a best buy.

This powder measure is very consistent as most are, very easy to disassemble, comes with a powder baffle, mount, tools everything you need, as with any powder measure, round or ball powder works best for consistent results. Love love love this product.

Good powder thrower ...

Good powder thrower except for a few items:Bad1. The Machining around the threaded mounting stemcould have been better, It was not machined flat nor was it machined flush with the threads. This resulted in a measure that flopped around instead of holding it tightly. UNACCEPTABLE. I had to take another lock-ring from another die set to thread on before putting it on the mount. I had to cannibalize another set of dies just to run.2. I understand telling customers to keep lubricant out of powder chamber but if you degrease the entire assembly it will rust. It is common sense.Good stuff1. The Powder Baffle is included, unlike the prior reviews, I assume they took the hint.2. The travel of the arm is nice and short and solid.3. The lid is unbreakable unlike some other manufacturers products.4. The powder tube is CLEAR, not red or green or yellow so you can ditch the flashlight.5. The included mounting arm is very thick by comparison to other red tinted machines.Conclusion:If not for the one major shortcoming of this machine I would have been screaming from the rooftops about how good it was, instead I caught myself and almost ended up throwing it from the rooftop. I'm sure this machine was mainly a victim of one machine for single stage and progressive. The machine was made for their progressive so that's what it will do best. It seems like they kind of took one from the progressive assembly line and stuck it in a box for sale. They should have a flat bottom body for use with their bracket and a tapered body for progressive use. Oh well, Great price, Good product. If either MidwayUSA or Hornady have a remedy, please feel free to comment if you care to.

I have one of the older ...

I have one of the older ones that is about 6 or 7 yrs old and when I received this new one, I thought something looked odd. Then I noticed that the Rotor was in backwards compared to my older one. I just switched it around and it is ok now. This is a very good powder measurer. I like it over my RCBS. I wonder if anyone else has noticed this about this measurer.

This is a superb powder measure! I purchased this after becoming very frustrated with my previous unit. I have tried numerous powders through this with consistently excellent results regardless of the powder type. This has never drifted by more than 0.1 grain once dialed in to the desired powder charge. I also purchased the pistol metering rotor which is absolutely outstanding for smaller charges. I have no hesitation to use powders that only require a few grains for a given load. This measure will throw them accurately every time. I have absolutely no hesitation recommending this product. It is a fine design, well made, and produces consistent results.

GREAT PRODUCT!!!!!! That said. Word to the wise, if you are going to load low volume pistol rounds with this measure buy the small volume pistol drum. IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE! Added money but worth every penny. Just change out the drum for preferred cartridge and this thing will throw right on+- 1 grain every time.

This is the first time I have ever written a negative review about a product purchased from MidwayUSA, and in all reality it is NOT their problem nor is MidwayUSA to blame. I purchased the Hornady L-N-L powder dispenser along with the pistol meter and accessory stand. The third time I used the dispenser was with a hopper full of Bullseye. I had to stop what I was doing and had to leave the powder in hopper overnight. Needless to say, my hopper is now distorted and partially melted and I cannot get the hopper to separate from the base. I wrote an email directly to HORNADY and in three weeks they haven't bothered to reply as to how I can go about ordering just a replacement hopper. I am NOT asking for them to make it right as I am willing to pay for the new hopper but they do NOT answer emails at HORNADY.Whatever you do, do NOT leave Bullseye in the hopper overnight!Scott EldridgeEstes Park, CO

This is a follow up to a review I made a short time ago. This review is concerning what some say is the erratic charge weights. When I first filled the hopper and started throwing charges I came across the same problem Charge weights were very erratic but finally settled down. So using the dump tube I made I emptied the hopper and started again. I quickly realized the problem. With the factory supplied baffle in place when I first filled the hopper a void was created under it. With the " Knock Knock " jarring of the unit as I worked the handle the void was filled and I got consistent charges. I emptied and refilled the hopper a number of times to prove my point and I was right. I wrote a review of the Hornady electronic scale where people complained about it being .02 grains off and I replied that once set I throw 10 charges and weigh them to fine tune the measure and get an accurate weight that way. You can tap on the side of the measure after filling it to remove the void or throw a number of charges to let the measure even it's self . I just finished up loading 1,000 rounds of .223 Remington using xxx gr of xxx powder and I checked the charge weight every 50 rounds. It did not vary more than .2 grains throughout. I was too lazy to throw 10 charges for a more accurate count. Thanks again Hornady for another great produce
