Quality drill and tap

I drilled and tapped two additional scope mount holes for a shortened multi slot Weaver rail as I needed the two rear holes to install a Tech-Sight & co-witness through a Tasco red dot. Be super careful & pilot drill in the correct locations on a drill press or mill. Use a tap guide, good oil and 1/8 turns.

Great matched set although the bit is not a top quality bit, it will suffice for most jobs. As far as hobbyist as oppossed to gunsmiths doing the job, all I can say is this; with time, patience and the proper tools anybody can do a great job at most gunsmithing tasks. On the other hand, as a gunsmith, 80% of what I do is fixing what others attempted to do on their own. Mostly it's a matter of pay me now or pay me later.

Thank you for offering this as a matched kit. Worked fantastic. Quote from gunsmith was 25.00$ a hole. to mount my 2 piece leupold base on my project 98. I did use a drill press and a clamp that fits on the press table. I used a set of the dial calipers to find and mark the center line. I measured and marked several times before the first hole. Was very happy with the results. Would recommend using a single base as a first timer.

Excellent. I used this to drill and tap a Yugo Mauser receiver. I was told not to try "normal" drill bits because of the hardness of the receiver. This drill cut through like butter. The tap cut excellent threads. I will continue to use this set.

Worked beautifully. I am a hobbyist who used this set to drill and tap the receiver of a 98 Mauser for installation of scope/sight bases. Professionals say not to try this on your own, but I did it (carefully) and got perfect results without even using a jig. You can too, just mark your holes accurately in EXACTLY the right spot with a center punch, keep your drill perfectly straight with a steady hand, and, using a little oil, start with smaller bits and work up to the no. 32. Then put the tap in a tap handle and oil the tip. Proceed with extreme care to cut threads strait, backing out gently just a little bit after each 1/4 turn or so. Use plenty of oil; thread cutting type is recommended but ATF or any other light oil will do nicely. Don't force it and you'll be fine.

Excellent tools but do not try and do this by hand! While I'm glad that Mr. Moscow did well you are risking a lot. Drilling and tapping a receiver should be done with a Drill Press or Mill only. I'm a gunsmith and I have seen many rifles that someone thought they could do it by themselves. It cost twice as much to get one fix as it would to get it done right the first time. Leave this to your Gunsmith and you want be disappointed.
